Tim's book is very good in numerous ways. My view is that the essence of what he's saying is correct. You CAN put on a lot of muscle very quickly. If you have the right programme, nutrition and rest. Best thing to do is avoid these useless "fitness instructors" and buy a good book. Then really overload those muscles on a low rep concentrated programme, adhereing to it completely. I can see my weight go up, and my waist stay the same very quickly. But I'd gone down some wrong paths beforehand. I can gain 14lbs in 6wks pretty easy. After that, I'll go onto a higher rep programme.
i could stand to lose 10 or so pounds. im 6' 215lbs. wear size 36 waist pants. my weight is mostly muscle but im sure if i did cardio for a couple months i could get back in 34s and get my six pack back. wanna be 205 because i plan to compete in mma at that weight once before i hit 30
Yeah I feel like I could lose 10 pounds too but that doesn't really make you fat. I guess it depends on how strong you are. I have like a belly that is kinda abs and kinda belly. Sometimes I can't tell if I'm fat or not. I feel like I'm doing good considereing how much food I eat. I eat a lot of fucking food. I think if I could stop drinking as much beer I could start eating more food even. I think its jsut the beer that makes you fat. You can eat as much as you want so long as you run around and do stuff. I think I would probably be fat if I bought a car. It's no wonder people who live in sprawling urban environments with drive-thrus and long distances between amenities are fat. Anybody would be fat under those circumstances. Of course that is the current trend in cheap urban planning, so we're pretty fucked.
I'm 44 y.o., 5'2" & 227 lbs. Fat, right? Well, last July when I started losing weight I was 257 lbs. So I'm not complaining! Trying to just lose weight. Would love to get down to 135, but so long as I'm under 200 I won't complain. Back when I was in high school I was 5'5" and 120 lbs.
Thanks. Need to work on cardio speed and flexibility and get another nine months of training. I did three two years ago but once I handle some more important shit first I'm gonna go back and do nine months training then a fight. I want a year total training
still hungry..a burrito sounds good today, a payday burrito with extra onions..I will accentuate my "H's" for the rest of the day.
It just depends what you are going for I guess. A lot of the guys who live in gyms and take a bunch of supplements aren't really strong, they are just training their muscles to swell up the way they want. Like ok, I'll do my back this day.. legs this day, arms this day. That way they can 'heal' and look bigger. That's not building real strength though. And that includes grip strength, and using your mass to your advantage to get shit done. I'm sure I'll catch a lot of disagreement for having that opinion but it's what I've seen. On more than a few times those gym rats have proven weak to me. With how much I beat the shit out of my muscles on a daily basis, I need a certain amount of body fat to keep them going. I do need to get more active with cardio again though, but mostly because I like how it makes me feel and it increases energy levels. Also keeps muscles looser.
You're right about their strength dev. My own brother took that approach (train muscles so hard they rip and the scar tissue make them bigger). It is very common. But even though some of those people might argue about how strong it gets them I have the suspicion that in reality most of them just wanna look the part and are not so busy with optimal strength. Of course with big muscles and looking tough they can't just admit they're mainly in it for the aesthethcs
That's what happens when you've been in as many serious accidents as me. Takes the oomph outta ya. Thanks!
I need to get back to my cardio as well. I always gain like 10-15 lbs and shut down in the winter. Come spring I'll be riding my bike every day. I have a stationary bike at home, but it's not the same... not nearly as enjoyable as riding my bike. I swear that I get a high from going on a bike ride.
