The BIBLE is TRUE!

I suppose I believe the Bible is false in the sense that it isn't the all-encompassing solution to life's problems that a lot of people think it is.

I will admit that there is such a thing as symbolic truth, as Okiefreak says, and in that sense the entire Bible might be regarded as true. It may be true, but it isn't "the truth."

and I do believe priests do rape a lot of little boys and girls..sad but true. and why they dont marry? not scriptual.. Catholics are most of the problem..too much idolatry and of course the raping of little children and spread bible lies.

 

Since it appears you are busy with the dictionary already why not look it up. Although the words symbolic truth put together seems rather self explanatory to me

The story of Adam and Eve and the eating of the fruit can be seen as a symbolic truth, as Okiefreak was saying.

I'm not saying anything in the Bible isn't true, by those standards. But it being symbolically true might be less impressive than it being literally true. Had Moses really spoken to a burning bush, for instance...or parted the Red Sea. (I'm not sure how to symbolically explain the parting of the Red Sea, so maybe the Bible wasn't being true literally or figuratively there.)

People always discredit the Adam and Eve story..Sad because it is a key point in the bible and runs the theme for the whole thing.

by percieving everything symbolically you literally wipe the bible out as being false. The bible is one of those things you believe once you have truly studied it or you dont. There is no grey, should'nt be. God dont work like that.
