ty on science support. Science has uses, as long as some idiot doesn't use it to try to make a badder bomb than we already have.

And what is it about yew you need? I may have a reference you missed. both science and folk traditions. I'm a girl of a few answers and never ending questions.

So that's what Jesus juice is.

And yew is scared, if I remember right, to more than one faith in addition to having medical applications and looking really cool when cut. I think it's also a decorative shrub. I don't know that I could tell it apart from other shrubs, but in one version of the Norse rune tree story, it's the yew that Odin hangs from to receive the gift of the runic alphabet.

In modern wisdom, it's use for lung and breast cancer treatment. Makes me wonder what other drugs can come out of toxic herbs found sacred in ancient times.

and yes, no residue, no smell

" Makes me wonder what other drugs can come out of toxic herbs found sacred in ancient times."

And you're snarking at US for not sciencing?!!!
The answer is out there. The short one being: pretty much all of those herbs have a modern medicinal form that progressed from from 'herb in the garden' to chemical extractions.

Maybe you missed that part of science class to take your pedantry lessons.

Hey now, I said more research. If you don't know how to use the herb safely, or for what purpose, then it's just a plant and not medicine at best, fatal poison at worst. Just look at poppies. Without knowing the concentration of the chemical components, just eating them could kill, but Oxycontin and morphine are known concentrations that can help doctors. You won't catch me eating mandrake root either, but if they find the cure for HIV or something in it, I won't dump on the medicine extracted from it.

Knowing answers exist is one thing, but finding them is another. It also gives me a giggle when science tests herbal medicinal traditions and finds the old wisdom was right, but that only happens sometimes.

    Here's my experience:

Baking Soda: I wash my scalp with a bottle full of diluted Bicarb. I just slowly pour it over different parts of my head and massage my scalp with my fingers. I don't really wash my locks specifically since all my scalp oil and sweat is down in the roots and doesn't get out to the tips.

ACV: I use it to get rid of athlete's foot. No real scientific basis for why I personally use ACV over another vinegar it's just what was recommended to me and I found it to be effective. I know that many people use white vinegar in their hair and prefer it to ACV. Perhaps it's one of those 'hippy' things where people know there are supposed health benefits to ingesting it so everyone assumes that it's the way to go for everything...

Thoughts: the bicarb is first for salty abrasiveness, vinegar is second for it's pH-ing effects.

Pretty much. The bicarb is a nice for exfoliating the scalp. The vinegar is nice for the rest of the lock for grease cutting and bacteria killing.

I've used both and T-gel and a bunch of other things. When I trimmed my locks last year, there was no residue problem when I dissected the dread core.

Dissection. That's awesome. Da boy told me the some of the dreads break off in time so we can track how the cleaning is going for normal wear and tear and adjust as need. we don't even need to get the scissors out all the time.

    Thanks for mentioning.

Also, how did the t-gel compare. Mom has trouble with surplus organism causing trouble on her head and may need to wash more than average to control itch rather than oil, skin and smell. It's the same reason she can't use mascara, the microbes multiply at speed that's harmenful to her, so once the tube is used once, it's trash and more waste than is worth her time.

I pretty much use T-gel full time, now a days.
When I can't afford it, I go back to bicarb and vinny.
