Why I'm not watching the Super bowl today

This Superbowl has been full of fail anyhow. Go Seahawks.

 

I like college football but NFL is really boring to me. I did not watch the superbowl. I can't really stand the commercialism culture surrounding it.

 

I hear fireworks outside.

 

Seeing post #8 by the lovely YouFreeMe and the number of thumbs ups it gets shows that you are pretty normal and many people think the same way.

 

Jam packed full of ugly smelly fails. Shit bowl.

 

Or maybe the people who feel that way also tend to congregate here, making it seem more common than it is .

Here in 'Merica, football is sort of like a religious thing. Actually, I betcha more people watch the Superbowl than go to church, on an average Sunday.

 

I'm fine with that. At least people know football is just a game (... I think).

 

I can't do it, I find it kinda boring. I'm way to ADD to sit and watch a thing for three hours. There's only 60 minutes of action in there at best, so 120 minutes of replays and commercials.

And as a dude, everyone talks to me about it all the time, and my eyes just glaze over. I do enjoy gambling on it. Having no loyalties or much interest in the game, I can look at it with cold logical statistical analysis based on yahoo and a couple sports predictors. I have crushed in every football pool I've ever been apart of. It's fun to throw a ball around, but I don't get the big deal.


Now a convention about software defined radio, that's my Superbowl!

 

The general crime rate goes down during the S-bowl, but domestic violence goes way up.

bahaha.. me? I was fucking traumatized. My post wasn't about my hatred toward the super bowl, in fact, I'm neutral about it..I don't care for it but I don't care if other people are into it... I just happen to give it the catchy title of 'Why I'm not watching the Super Bowl today.' My post was about being traumatized in my youth.

The culture surrounding sports in this country seems to be one of utter mindlessness. I have always been bored by sports, but even if I found them to be interesting, I would be put off by all the corporate bullshit surrounding them. Also, I sense a great deal of mass manipulation when it comes to sports and the importance people place on a bunch of overpaid athletes who really contribute nothing to society other than a distraction from things of actual importance. It sickens me how so many people can be so passionate about sports, yet could give fuck all about their rights and freedoms being taken away. People walk around with the corporate logos of sports teams on their clothes and cars, and I can't help but write them off as a bunch of sheep. To me it's no different than walking around wearing the corporate logo for Pfizer or General Electric.

 

The utter mindlessness is part of what draws me to it. I can't believe what this country has become. It's fascinating in a sick way. Bob Dylan Chrysler Commercial.
