Actually the traffic is a valid example. As I read it cyclists over there probably haven't been fully incorporated in the traffic and infrastructure understanding yet. Causing much frustration and agitation again If you look at the Netherlands there is far more understanding for and from cyclists in traffic, they truly have been fully integrated in the traffic with additional rules, lanes etc.
Yeah,GOOD,innit! Typical H/F discussion-starts off being about how to knit a cabbage leaf-ends up several pages later discussing ways to grow bubblegum! THAT'S why we all LOVE it here!
I drive for a living. And bicycles ...... well, lets just say that the guy who was riding on the wrong side of the road, without a light who ran a traffic light is not the worst I've seen. It's an analogy from non-violence trainings. The stop light gets its power from the community's understanding of it and their agreement about intersections. Its not that the light has power, its that the community's understanding is the source of power.
I've never had the means to go and own a gun. I've lived all my life without one and I've never felt powerless. If you desire power at the hands of a gun, you're a pathetic gutless **** and nothing more.
Darwin has a lot to answer for,Yggdrasil. Survival of the fittest, well, fairy nuff-but survival of the 1st to take out a lawsuit, then primp their puny feathers because someone ELSE does their fighting for them......nah. I have EIGHT repeater indicators along each side of the roadtrain. EIGHT. Yet still the pricks ride into the blind spot, then act amazed and faux angry when I start to turn left at lights....FUCKEM.
I drive on a college campus. If the pedestrians know the difference between sidewalk and roadway, I call it a good day. (Dear undergrads, there's a reason its called a sidewalk and not a middle-of-the-asphalt-walk.)
Those people in the Ukraine didnt need guns to show their power when they overthrew the government....but i bet they wished they had them when they were getting picked off by sniper rifles.
I guess having the numbers and so much persistency that some may die for it is what really gave them the power. That and a president who knows how to push them over the edge of course..
Some of those Ukranian protesters did actually have guns. I'm ok with not having a gun at the moment, but what if there were to be some major collapse? Only 3 - 4 days food in the supply chain. Maybe I'd feel happier then if I had one just to protect myself.
I don't stockpile food. What I meant was that according to what I've read, it would only take 3-4 days before the shops ran out of food here in the UK. Partly because we rely heavily on imported food. If the distribution network were to break down, it wouldn't be long before there were severe shortages. If that was coupled with a break down in law and order......I'm sure you get the scenario.
I think I get it. If you don't need a gun to protect food you don't have it must probably be to take food from others?
If you have only bits you could easily hide that and the people with guns would go for the bigger loot! That's why the best you can prepare for a food shortage is not storing like a chipmunk but watching all those prepper shows and note which of those people are living near you
Only people who have guns in this country are police, military, farmers, and a few gun enthusiasts. I think what I'm saying really is that if things were to tip over into chaos, a gun might be a handy tool for self defence, should it be needed. Where I live there are gangs - I know who they are already. I also know some of them carry knives now, before any projected collapse has occurred. No way I'm going ever win a knife fight.
