Googled it too. Looks nice indeed, I love those kind of places.
If anything, try to get a job at the crater lake at Rapa Nui. That's the best one I've ever seen, even though it was a little dried up when I was there.

It can be really hard. It really is about networking and who you know... I had met the woman who hired me a couple years ago when I was up there to go look at a few of the rare plants and she remembered me and recognized my name when I applied. Also, my first Park Service supervisor works up there as well. So that helps. It is pretty competitive and hundreds of people apply for every job it seems like.

What did you change your career goals to?

    Thanks everyone!

I am really happy to be finally getting out of my parents house after 5 months of living here. Of course, I am only going a couple hours away... But it is a start.

^ a couple hours away is far enough to live alone, yet close enough to visit the family when you want
    It's a good distance.

I switched my career goals to product design. Which is basically architecture for everyday things. The idea of working out in scenic locations and going on hikes was something that appealed to me (and still does to some extent) when I went to college to study environmental sciences.

I still would gladly work in a place like Crater Lake doing what you do, and hold off on my design goals for a couple years. Also it would be close to my family in Medford. I'm in Portland and they want me to move closer.

Yeah, Medford is not far away.

The jobs I do are fun, but definitely don't make me any money and since they are always temporary there is the constant need to be looking for a new job all the time, which can get exhausting! But in the end it is all worth it for me. I guess every career has its downsides...

So this Crater Lake job is only temporary? Well if that's the case, having the experience and connections should put you at the front of the line when another one opens up there.
