I was going to reply the same thing. Bruce Springsteen doesn't exist in my world. I think I've probably seen him on tv the grand total of 5 minutes throughout my life. I've practically listened to none of his music and the only song I can recognize is the Philadelphia one. I don't like his music.
Rat, if this is association, I think I know what you meant by this thread. You Sherlock Holmes or something?
He's always seemed like a really cool guy to me. Some of his music isn't the best; but he's even taken pay cuts to give his band a fairer share when his label was trying to rip them off. Most of his music is rather bland, sure, but he has some really good ones; and he's all about the small guy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAB4vOkL6cE"]Bruce Springsteen - The River - YouTube

Hot summer night. Stadium show. Lots of cheap beer. Humidity. Pot. We're all sweaty. Great night. 2 hours of music. And then this comes on (I was at this show) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lX3zajBtv8"]The River (WITH STORY) Bruce Springsteen 8/14/1985 Philly - YouTube
I read that people in his high school thought Springsteen was creepy. I halfway agree. His buddy Steven Van Zandt is ten times creepier. I can't stand to look at him. Most Springsteen songs sound alike, and the lyrics make no sense if you really pay attention, even though they seem profound on the surface.
I don't really even know anything about him at all, I've never even seen an interview or anything. But I do have an embarrassing love for his song "I'm on Fire"
Douche bag is a very American insult. It's one that you rarely hear in the UK, but one I actually quite like, as it suits certain people. Springsteen isn't my cup of tea, but I wouldn't go that far in dissing him because he probably is a good musician or else he wouldn't have endured so long.

having never met the man, i don't find him particularly anything. the music that made him popular never did much for me. but he's done other things outside of that which are great. as for appearance, sure, he's looked like death warmed over for the at least the past 30 years. but so what? he must be at least as old as i am. and i was born in 1948. so do the math. of course he looks like an old fart. because he is an old fart. i know nothing about his personal life or his politics. maybe i would find fault there if i did, or maybe not. i have no idea. and don't really see why it would or should be any of my business.
LOL, Creepy is a good way to describe him. I absolutely can't stand his music. I really can't emphasize enough how much his entire sound and style irritates me. Him and his creepy buddy little Stevie. yuk
