I uninstalled Norton since the subscription was up anyways and after that I couldn't boot into windows at all! Just a blank screen, no matter how long I waited! It broke my system! I used a Linux USB stick to boot into Linux and copy my important files from that disk to another one so I wouldn't lose them and then used parted to make new partitions Now I can't get windows 8.1 to install, I've tried several 2 different ones I torrented and they both failed, so did winxp. Now I'm using one that I think is gonna make it all the way through but everything's Russian and it's hard as fuck to deal with...hopefully it'll install windows and I can change the language back to English later.... Been up all night fuckin with this shit and I can't read Russian worth shit....
dude thats hilarious, dont say I didnt tell ya so. fuck that shit, id just install linux, look at that bloatware
Can't you reformat the hard drive and start from scratch? Or don't you have a copy of Windows to install?
I don't use anti virus at all, just the windows firewall...I never have any probs. Then again I still use XP pro because it's the best OS for my AV programs, never crashes. LOL my computer probably looks like a honeypot so it scares them away.
I just downloaded a cracked copy of windows 8.1 and now its way faster than it was before..i decided to stop fuckin with that Russian shit cuz I couldn't tell what the fuck I was doin lol And no, it wouldn't repair or let me get into safe mode, couldn't get past the black screen. I had to delete all the partitions, make new ones, format and reinstall the OS.
Does your computer have a key for windows 8 sticker on it? If so I know a guy, While it's possible that whoever releases cracked windows copies simply wants to give the world free software, it's at least AS likely you will become their bot. Cracked OS software is effectively a hypervisor, and pretty unkillable. And nobody should be running XP. No more updates after next week. Really bad things.
Run It For 8 Years With Regular Updates, As Recent As 2 Days Ago, Any Small Hiccups Fixed Promptly, I'll Run The Old Girl Till Either She Or Me Are Dust.... Cheers Glen.
Unless you have manually turned it off, you've been getting updates in the background. And you do download things. When you visit pages like this one you download cookies, flash-cookies and javascript, all of which run software on your machine, and without sand boxing which is routinely patched in updates, will let people run whatever they want on your system. You depend on SSL to make sure people wont be able to read your confidential emails, banking stuff isn't read, and there two really big holes in it discovered and patched within the past month. When you visit any webpage you supply the server with your useragent which tells what operating system your using. Every month or so a patch is released, the patches are disassembled, and the holes are public knowledge. Windows XP will not be protected and XP machines will be scanned for. Like 15% of the internet still uses them. And pretty much any bad things. I'm not trying to sound alarmist, do what you've gotta do, but I strongly encourage you to upgrade.
I have my update settings on 'ask before downloading', the only thing I ever get are flash updates, and I stopped updating flash long ago, it only causes more BS... and java is also disabled on my computer. I don't use my computer for banking and Firefox erases all cookies when I close the browser, and is set to 'remember nothing'. If I ever notice my computer not acting right, I do a full 'new' install of the the OS. If anyone is reading my private emails they are probably quite bored by now lol I've never spent a dime on anything computer related, for the last 10 years my computers all have either come from dumpsters or were given to me free and my OS and all my softwares are boot's. Arrr!
Or most likely, become a bot. Much malware today is professionally written, and you'd likely never notice. But I am with you in spririt. I'm a linux man, and don't pay for software either.
