If I figure it out, I'll let you know.

Poverty happens because people don't have jobs, or don't have jobs that pay them enough to live a reasonable life. There are a handful of lazy people (and far fewer of them than most people think) that have somehow become the poster child for the poor.

sounds painful. i often get asked if i can predict rain because of my bones but i never give it that much thought. i used to have signs of arthritis, it hasnt bothered me much in the last 4 years,.....hmmm i wonder if the south has something to do with that. i may have traded arthritis for kidney stones though.

we have insurance through hubby's work. i could save money on the exchanges, however since we are already insured we cant. the insurance we have eats so much that we cant afford the copays to actually see the doctor. we have dental added, its not an expensive addition to the exorbitant insurance, but it doesnt cover as much. my dentist is good, awesome, longtime family practice, but quality doesnt come cheap either. luckily you can get a credit card for your medical expenses.
you. can. go. into. debt. on. purpose. for. your. healthcare.

with the amount we paid to insurance last year (that we cant afford to use) we could have made more than 3 extra payments to our mortgage, and replaced the fence, and maybe fixed the..., bought the..., did the... more than $7,000 we spent on health insurance last year. scrounging to get groceries, cant pull together the $30 copay for a check up, certainly cant cover multiple copays for bloodwork and other tests. its dumb. i could have gone to the doctor and paid out of pocket with that $7K

i think that the flat rate required to cover everyone would be low. basic care. emergency coverage. you sick? you see doctor now. you break leg? you see doctor now. if people want/ can afford additional insurance, more power to them. if some doctors want to specialize in treating the rich, then so be it.
i think there should be coffers. an over-budget. the taxes we are charged should ALWAYS cover the active budget, and there should be extra. look, our bills are paid, and we are sitting on $2 trillion. lets have a vote on whether we should send a billion to (insert third world country in need here) but taxes have to tick up a bit until the coffers are full again.
it seems a better plan than, well, whatever the fuck is going on now.

poverty is a whole other can of worms. safety nets would work better if some people didnt abuse them. not to say everyone does, but i think most people know of someone who milks the system. there is a mental health aspect too, if we could help the poor with, i dont know, healthcare (gasp!) maybe some of them could get on their feet. housing is a big thing when it comes to the poor and homeless. cant afford shelter without a job, hard to find a job without an address, or a phone number. i want to build efficiency housing for the homeless. people dont need a lot of space to live, and the less space, the less $ you have to spend on your shelter, and the more you can save towards a next step.

our evolutionary advantage is our ability to think complexly. we have weak teeth and no claws. we sleep 1/4- 1/3 of our day, basically a snoring feast for predators. we have sacrificed a lot to evolve into the creature we are. we should use what our ancestors have given us. there is no reason for the worlds problems to remain unsolved. just because the solutions arent easy or simple doesnt meant they arent solutions. not everything has a neat little box with a bow. no magic pill.

also- greed. me me me. no one should be forced to give to charity, but we should all want to. we should all want to help the less fortunate, the struggling, the huddled masses. and an additional facet to that is religion. people say you should seek help from your church. thats nice, if you have one. do atheists not get help then? "fuck them. let their 'non god' provide, hardy har har"

people would be less poor, feel less poor i guess, if they knew how to spend time. we all get the same amount of that in a day. now, as a kid, all my report cards said "a pleasure to have in class, fails to use time wisely" i am still a terrible procrastinator, sure, but in retrospect i do not think my time was poorly spent. i doodle, and plan. brainstorm and list. build my own things, create and make instead of buy. how many work-hours does a pair of jeans cost? is it actually worth it? (yes. denim is a bitch to sew in any volume on a home machine)
how about that dress? the one that will pop a seam the second time you wear it? can it be fixed if it does? can you sew a button or repair a seam? people need to know these things. saves money. saves time. lots of people just buy a new dress. what a waste of hours.

ramble ramble. see you later, i think coffee will not wait until the afternoon.

I'm thinking about giving homemade yogurt a try.
We eat a lot of yogurt. There's gotta be a cheaper way.

    Espresso :coffee: day... Sort of.

Using my one cup filter instead of Mom's coffee pot. Fine grind and no sludge.

Anyways... Saturday it was warm enough to cut wood, I did about 4 hours, maybe 5... That night and all day Sunday I really hurt. (In theory I shouldn't be doing any of this) Monday, not so bad, it never actually "goes away" so in relative terms I felt okay. Yesterday and today I've been trying to figure out who's been beating me with 2X4's in the middle of the night. Fuck all....

Yeah... Fibro. and bad joints sucks.
