TARKUS and Brain Salad Surgery are my faves.......love EL&P.....they've got a new album out too (2 years ago??!)
Alberto Ginastra composed "Toccata". ELP did a rendition of the piece and is featured on Brain Salad Surgery. Carrying on the tradition is a band from Japan called Gerald. Check this out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kn6G7a-AXA"]GERARD "Toccata" Live in Harajuku, 2000 - YouTube Hail the Prog!
I saw them a couple of times in the 70s -- the music was great, although sometimes a little monotonous -- their stage (special) effects were unsurpassed in the day.

I have always liked ELP since maybe 10 years ago or so, but not as much as Genesis or Yes. But in the last six months, I have discovered the ecstatic joy of listening to the long ELP tunes (Tarkus, Trilogy, Karn Evil 9) while strongly hopped-up on amphetamines. The two just go together SO incredibly well! I can't think of a better marriage than ELP + Speed.
I am a big fan of ELP's earlier work. I heard them for the first time back in '70 on Clyde Clifford's Beaker Street show on KAAY 1090 in Little Rock, AK. I had Emerson Lake & Palmer, Pictures at an Exhibition, Tarkus, Trilogy, Brain Salad Surgery, and Welcome My Friends to the Show That Never Ends... Ladies and Gentlemen, Emerson, Lake & Palmer on vinyl when I was in high-school. (Wish I still had 'em today!) I remember watching them on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert, and I also watched their California Jam performance live on TV. Their live shows were great. Crazy theatrics combined with excellent playing. The grand piano spinning end-over-end, the rotating percussion, and Emerson stabbing his Hammond & kicking it all over the stage was so over-the-top, but they backed it up with stellar musicianship. I really wish I could have seen them in person back in the day. I recently picked up the SACD 5.1 surround version of Brain Salad Surgery. I loved it in stereo, but the 5.1 mix is really good, and the high-resolution SACD format preserves the full dynamic range & frequency response of the original master tape.
I once liked ELP. I hate them now. They represent everything I hate about prog rock, in fact... cheesy, pretentious, all pomp and no circumstance, etc. 'Lucky Man' is a great song, though. Actually, their entire debut album is pretty good. I immensely dislike everything else they did, though.
I saw ELP twice in the 70s and still listen to the on occasion. Incrediable stage show for the time. But man! Has Greg Lake porked out!
I love ELP and they have introduced me (without me even knowing at that moment) to a lot of great classical music like Allegro Barbaro by Bartok and Pictures at an Exhibition by Mussorgsky ;D
