More news from the White House...

    Hey, all --

Last Friday, I spoke at a rally in Cleveland about raising the minimum wage. While I was there, I had the opportunity to talk with 11-year-old Jesseca Hudson, who came out to show her support.

Before I'd even boarded my plane back to D.C., she had already emailed me, telling me how she wanted to help in the fight to give millions of workers the wages they deserve.

Jesseca doesn't think that someone working full-time should struggle to make ends meet. But full-time workers earning the current federal minimum wage of $7.25 only earn about $14,500 a year in wages -- below the poverty line for a family of two.

That's unacceptable. And it's why the President has called on Congress and state governments to raise the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour -- and on businesses to act on their own to increase the pay of their workers.

Raising the minimum wage to $10.10 will benefit about 28 million workers across the country. And it will help businesses, too: Raising the wage will put more money in people's pockets, which they will pump back into the economy by spending it on goods and services in their communities.

The bottom line: America deserves a raise.

And it's not just 11-year-olds that understand why it's a problem that the minimum wage has lost nearly a third of its value since its peak in 1968. Nearly three out of four Americans agree we should raise the wage.

    Thanks for your help.

    Tom

    Secretary Tom Perez
    Department of Labor

"No one who works full time should have to raise their family in poverty."
    PRESIDENT OBAMA

I *guarantee* that raising the minimum wage will motivate and encourage people to return to work (beat the oppression = beat the depression)

and after their spirits are lifted, we'll start to see this fucking BOGUS "mental illness" start to magically repair itself (no credit to the crippling antidepressants).

    :D

i already made this point back on like page 2, and i actually looked at the whole map. there's two 70 states directly bordering the one you used as the lowest numbered state in your example.

And it took six year plus to raise minimum wage? Or...is it just a bs rabbit out of a hat to try and buy voters back because it's get rid of democrats time?
Stupid people will believe anything. Six plus years for the "welfare" president to raise min wage? Ahahaha!

I've smoked weed twice in the past three years. Can't afford the luxury because I'm a drug addict (coffee and cigarettes). I'm thankful to the God who created electronic cigarettes .. that person helped to save a lot of lives. I'm down to 50/50 .. half tobacco, half e-cig. I heard there is such a thing as e-joints lmao

See that thumbs down? I consider that to be harassment. It takes two .. my only "crime" or "offense" is being here. Don't like me? For the 12th time .. GO READ THREADS THAT INTEREST YOU and invest your time in spending your daily allotment of thumbs on people you LIKE and approve of. There's an idea!

Yeah, this harassment actually cost this website the membership I would have paid for. I'm not going to pay for a membership if I'm going to be harassed, to the point of driving me out.

More news today on issues that are super important .. to me and many, many people. This article suggests that raising the minimum wage will likely be a *failure*

"Democrats backed by President Barack Obama want to force election-year votes on gradually increasing today's minimum to $10.10 by 2016, an effort that seems likely to fail in Congress. Republicans generally oppose the proposal, saying it would cost too many jobs."

The two top comments that show on my screen are strong messages:

The article suggests that they will fail to raise minimum wage, not that raising minimum wage will be a failure.

The White House is fueling my imagination today. This email arrived about an hour ago ..

    You'll want to share this

We'd like to think we've got a lot of content worth passing along.

And we launched White House Shareables as a central place for some of our favorite infographics, GIFs, and explainer videos that highlight President Obama's policies in a way that's interesting and easy to understand. It's for things that, we're betting, you'll like enough to pass on.

As President Obama focuses on the importance of raising the minimum wage, check out this infographic that shows how it will impact women. See it and share it (along with all of our best content) on WhiteHouse.gov/Shareables

The Benefits of Raising the Minimum Wage for America's Women

*more than half of all workers who will benefit from raising the minimum wage are women*

*minimum wage for tipped workers is $2.13 .. an amount that hasn't been raised since 1991*

My personal note to the White House:

    1. Thanks for the emails, I rather enjoy them.
    2. I sure do share content .. just not on Facebook or Twitter.
    3. I'M 110% FOR RAISING THE MINIMUM WAGE .. YES PLEASE AND THANK YOU.
    4. Please don't let anything or anyone get in the way of doing the right, good thing in this country.

Infographics? Wahaha! That sounds like propaganda for "lo infomashun" common core voters!

I'm for raising the min wage to stimulate the economy, even considering the costy ramifications. I think something has to give and since the stall is on giving everything to illegals and the muslim brotherhood, the exchange should be this minor wage increase. But it is looking like the pressure is on about costs and ramifications so it is just looking more and more like a fake balloon even obama knew couldn't fly, he was just using it to chum the dummies to make it look like he was going to be "a hero" on the phony - yet again...

I really haven't looked at all the voices tho and you can usually tell by how the bizz people react if something might be real or was just smoke.

It's such an old, ongoing issue (much like ..decades of lawlessness.. )

The "underbelly" of it all .. deep and nasty.

In my absolute worst life-experiences, I found myself realizing a simple political truth: if you want to rule the people, you must live like the people. Then I saw how twisted opposite the reality is, compared to the ideal.

Those who don't LIVE the issues can't ever really know and understand them .. I don't care how much they've studied and how scholarly they are.

"There are some things you can't know unless you've been there but oh far we could go if we started to share" ~ Ani DiFranco

I don't know what the ramifications would be to change but I know exactly what they'll be if they don't change.
