For the record, I don't think it's Sallysmart, with a new account, posting as sallybyron.

He said one person sent him a message to tell him he was busted. He didn't mention any others. Who knows who all he talked to.

You know the saying shit happens, well it does. Thanks for explaining and that is not a comfortable thing to have to do. No harm done and it should just be let go now. :)

This happened a few years ago on the boards and the person was so uncomfortable after it all that they left. Please do not be one to leave as it is all good and we would miss you!!!! :)

Thank you very much. :) it is kind of awkward, but I'm not uncomfortable. I'm not happy that he and or his friends are getting on sites they are not supposed to be on, but I'm glad I know now what they are doing.

I'm surprised the IP issue doesn't happen more often. Surely there are couples or others in the same household on here that share a router and other devices.

At one time there were a few couples who were members or shared IP users but their posting styles were very different so they were easy to tell apart, even without a mod checking their IP. :)

    Kids gonna be kids. ;)

Ekkk! What's the hidden link for? They trying to hack people?

Not me tho, I don't know how to play those games. I think the mods can see where my IP comes from and where that one comes from.
I did a little light modding for a small site years ago but just as a back up so I didn't play with many options.

I know sallybyron isn't you but I do think their username is a play on yours.

Could be, Or might be totally innocent, thanks for telling me I will be watching.
I have found when a poster posts once and doesn't seem to be around they are just trolling, no response so they leave.

They'll do it to anybody. I think it's just a way to get attention (like it got mine). I didn't see the hidden link until I quoted their post, too clever. haha

I don't know about this particular situation, but the IP address issue does come up sometimes in the business world, where we try to keep track of everything and keep everything as secure as possible. Maybe I can explain this a little better.

There are several situations where two or more people can end up with the same IP address, either temporarily or permanently. The most common is when family members share stuff. Sometimes, the family desktop computer is up for grabs, used by everybody at times. Also, sometimes neighbors who get along very well will agree to split the cost of a high speed internet connection and wireless router. And if your neighbor doesn't password protect his router, you can share his IP address without his knowledge or permission. If you ever log on from a Starbucks, a public library, or hotel, you have no way of knowing who else has been assigned that IP address in the past, or what they've used it for. Last but not least, some businesses have fewer internet connections than they have office computers, so IP connections to the outside world are assigned by the company network as needed.

In other words, the assumption that one person equals one IP address is often bogus. To a forum moderator, a match only means that they should look into it further. No smoking gun there.

I disagree, it's most likely just a random username.
