goddamn motherfucking snow expected sunday/monday. i know it can happen, but mothers day is supposed to be the "safe to start planting" day. colorado weather is crazy.

in other news, while hubby is skeptical, i may have convinced him to let me get a few guinea pigs, if i can find them free (i found one free on craigslist, i will wait until i am set up better though)
our back yard is lush with grass, and they are grazers. we dont use pest/herbicides, and dont plan to. and then we can winter them in the rabbit shed, once we get that together.

folding laundry, doing dishes, rearranging the garage, and then off to a friend's who wants to do freezer meals. busy day, and i have no motivation.

 

i just watched a video on how to make a solar-powered washing machine (5 gallon bucket, but thats not much smaller than my little machine anyway) and in watching it i couldnt help but think i could do better, and also that i dont think its necessary to have it be electrically powered in any way. a hand crank, bike pedals, or a sewing machine treadle would work just as well, if not better, and you would eliminate the motor (and possible issues, the vid i watched he used a drill)
i would add agitators, as well as a lid, and i would probably try to find a larger bucket, and use a disk for the base instead of a rectangular board. i would also add support for the upper part of the bucket so theres less wobble.
