I didn't mean to undermine that, what I said was a statement of... I don't know I'm pretty high tho.......
There are all kinds of online degree programs from accredited schools. Anyone looking for a new or different profession should look into them.
Professional basically means you get paid to do something. I've been a professional musician, carpenter, artist, painter, violin maker, just to name a few. I'd hate to be called and "expert" in any of those fields though. Journeyman maybe. Agreed, I don't have "hobbies" Hobbies are things like stamp collecting, or following celebrity gossip...
lol A lot of people romanticize jobs. I worked at a health food store for several years and customers would comment on how lucky I was to work there. Granted it was a nice little shop but they obviously pictured shopping there and not stocking shelves, tidying up, balancing the cash, lugging boxes up and down from the supply room, dealing with irate customers (always with a smile!)... Another few jobs were at garden centres. Same thing. They expected that you were frolicking in the gardens wearing a whimsy garden hat, sprinkling flowers with a cute little watering can. Meanwhile you're lugging hoses in the freezing cold wet early spring, unloading heavy crates of plants, weeding in the high heat and humidity of summer, cleaning debris from every. single. plant. to make them look presentable for sale. I did like seeing the plant cultivars that were out and enjoyed advising people of the best plants for their needs, but there wasn't much of that in comparison to the other duties. I think everyone should actually work at a job for an adequate amount of time before deciding that's the job they'd like. It usually looks better from the outside! I want to frolick in the gardens in a floppy hat sprinkling water from my cute (light) watering can, preferably among the herbs, on a mild sunny day with a cool breeze blowing through my hair! I haven't been hired yet.
I am a reflexologist but don't practice it except on myself mostly. I took iridology but don't practice it either. Also took natural health food consultant and don't practice that. I used to be horny for education and took many courses that mostly left me with smarts about the body and how it uses foods and deals with illnesses. also some management courses out of interest only. I would love to be a naturopathic doctor but there would be lots more to study. That would be my ultimate dream. For now what I do is awesome. It pays me well and I do not have to work hard and it helps people so I am quite satisfied. People love my work which makes me love it even more. I would have never thunk it I would do what I do now but it was due to my passed hubbie's pushing because he knew I would love it and do well with it which he knew he would also and we worked together for almost 7 happy years. Now I am on my own and doing well. I wanted to be a pilot when I was a kid and did take a course when I was young to fly small AC. Didn't take it further because of other interests. Now I hate flying, go figure. Now if I wanted anything else in the world it would be to train to be a natural doctor but I am settled with what I have and will probably stay with it till retirement because it's a comfortable slow slid on my ass and is secure till I am done working. I may still take some courses over the years because for some reason I enjoy education much more then I did when I was a kid. I do act as a natural food and supplements consultant with family and friends tho, just don't charge for it. For some reason I love helping people get well.
The same goes for 'rock stars'. I know some people in a band that has recently begun touring the world. They love it, but it is also a lot of fucking work. People only think of the hour that they're on stage, not the 9 hours of driving through the night to get there on time, or the loneliness of getting back to your hotel room to skype with your partner across the world.
Professional B-Ball player. Coulda' done it for sure, but was too fond of drinking and being a dumb-ass. I did some things (brag-brag) that I haven't seen any players do to this day. Bob Cousy, Pistol Pete, and several others, I patterned my play after----with my own unique little off-step--off-timing--fool you moves. Any shot I saw by ANYONE that was a cool shot--I stole for my own and must have shot em'1000 times to perfect ém. Sorry---B-Ball is about the only thing I can brag about honestly. ( And my kids, of course.)
regional transportation planning. although xenogeophysicist (a scientist who studies the geological dynamics of alien planets) is also appealing.
I always wanted to be a philanthropist. Did not happen. I worked in libraries for 40 years and some people thought it would be a nice job to sit and read books all day. Yeah sure, that is what we did all day. :book:
It's funny how what bit we see looks like the actual job. I always thought it would be fun to work at a zoo but watching more of what they do changed my mind pretty quickly even tho I love animals. Some people work with horses and it's all worth it because they love horses, it depends on how much you love the outcome of your work that says you can do all else that comes with it. With almost any job I have done, either peeps asked me how I can do that or thought it was all about the fun it gives me. For me it's about the outcome and if I don't see that being a good thing I would move on. One job I did was taking apart machines and cleaning them, then putting them back together, absolutely loved it, did it for 11 years and I was the only female in the shop. Many asked me how I can do that because it's heavy and how I could stand working with a group of guys. Loved that too because I get long with men better then with women. Some of those guys accused me of having bigger balls then they did, hahaha. I loved walking around in coveralls with a tool pouch on my side and getting my hands dirty, even my face got greased some days but that was ok then. I would have never quit that job but a medical issue I was born with intensified to a serious level and I had to leave the job. Now I am in a position where I can do as much as I want and as little as I want and I did avoid going on medical care coverage and probably will never have to use that system. I also have long nails again which I couldn't with the machines, they broke all the time.
