Anomie is a word I'd find more appropriate than anxiety.

I read that as: I will continue to post bs on the hip forums. Fair enough. Enjoy being ignored 90% of the time. Chow.

And the reverse is also often true. If the masses love you in your own time, there's a good chance you aren't contributing much of value to the national (or international) dialog.

Another trick they use is blatant history revision. For example, they try to make Thomas Jefferson into a Christian because his actual views don't appear to support the American ideal of what a good person should be. Same is true for Ben Franklin.

Feeding teachers and professors what they want to hear is definitely a game that many of us have had to play, many more times than we wanted to.

Are you saying he writes like Maya Angelou talks? :D
    :leaving:

He should have explained his reference to the award winning 1948 W.H. Auden poem. Most of us don't walk around with all that background knowledge in our heads. I had to look it up. Auden was ahead of his time. Many of his concerns didn't hit the masses until the 1960's.

I think the best theme music to fit it is the piece that Bernstein composed specifically for that purpose. Or maybe a Beatles LSD song.

    :(

While I don’t believe race played any role in forming your opinion, there’s clearly something…..hmmm....oh, you missed your favorite soap opera when the networks cut away to the funeral

BTW she has 30 honorary doctoral degrees :2thumbsup:

I actually watched most of it, just to see how deep the bullshit would get.

What's the formula now? 30 fake ones equals one real one? Last time I checked, 30x0=0

Why watch things you hate? If you don't like the way the media spins everything, why consume it so much? You're consuming this information so that you can rag on it later? Sounds like a serious waste of time.

Even if I was a huge fan, I wouldn't waste my time watching some television broadcast of her funeral...why?

    And she was very old.

Don't wish her dead either but when people make a big huge deal in general about old people who die at the time(age wise) that people die, it doesn't often make a lot of sense to me.

    STILL I RISE

You may write me down in history
    With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may tread me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.

    Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
'Cause I walk like I've got oil wells
    Pumping in my living room.

Just like moons and like suns,
    With the certainty of tides,
    Just like hopes springing high,
    Still I'll rise.

Did you want to see me broken?
    Bowed head and lowered eyes?
    Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
    Weakened by my soulful cries.

    Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don't you take it awful hard
'Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines
Diggin' in my own back yard.

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I'll rise.

    Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I've got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?

Out of the huts of history's shame
    I rise
Up from a past that's rooted in pain
    I rise
I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
    I rise
Into a daybreak that's wondrously clear
    I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
    I rise
    I rise
    I rise.
