Be more like students were in the days of yore. Stop trying to act like fratboys in American movies, and do what students in this country are supposed to do: sit up all night discussing the meaning of life. HAVE A FUCKING OPINION! LISTEN TO THE OPINIONS OF OTHERS! TALK TO EACH OTHER! I'm on fucking on-line forums far too much, I have to do all my indepth socio-political debate on here, and I'm at uni! How the hell can I not find someone randomly falling over in my corridor who wants to drunkenly discuss the merits of a plutocratic society or the dichotomies of human existence?! What went wrong with the world!??! I feel old. I never use exclamation marks unless I'm really annoyed.
You should come to Cambridge man, happens all the time here... in between me and my drunken medic roomie Tim calling each other bellend and knobcheese that is....
Oxbridge bastards! Grr. I'm stuck up here in cocking ScabbyBra. Seriously, if you wanted evidence that university standards are slipping, you've only got to count how many times someone tries to engage you in a conversation about something vaguely important within, say, a week. I'm not saying these people aren't intelligent, but they don't seem to have any will to explore that intelligence beyond GET GOOD DEGREE, GET BETTER JOB, GET MORE MONEY
Bastards eh? Well maybe, after all, I'll be kissing the Queen's hand while you're kissing my ass Now see why I don't like capitalism?
Not a capitalist issue, I just hate y'all for being more intelligent than me. [joke]Capitalism is being kinder to you than it is to me, you could at least have the decency to enjoy yourself at my expense instead of complaining about it! [/joke]
Should have put /joke next to my comments about the Queen really, I'm all for doing away with the monarchy....
I'm not keen on the idea of doing away with anyone. Anti-monarchistic debates are tedious; hardly anyone is in favour of the monarchy, but no-one can really be arsed to get rid of them. They don't really do much, but they don't really do any harm, and there are bigger fish to fry.
Indeed there are bigger fish to fry, but I'm all for equality amongst fish when it comes to frying them....
He's an arrogant twat who presents a fine argument for corporal punishment. Hope they send him to Iraq....
At least Harry has got a bit of realism about him....I think the lad is gonna be alright....I think the royal family is now an outdated concept but if I had to choose one as my favourite it would definatly be him.... As to the original idea about dumbing down at university..I totally agree... People sem to learn now to get jobs not because they want to know more... which I think is very sad....
The whole higher education system works to the assumption that the only reason people go to university is to get a better job. How ghey is that?
My parents are civil engineers, so yes, I've spent a night getting hammered with my mum while watching Inspector Linley. It was ok, but not exactly living the student dream. Thing is though, it's not all about getting wasted. It's good when everyone is a bit drunk and is sitting around chatting and the wheel has been greased and whathaveyou. When everyone's doing the whole "lad-culture" thing that every fucking third year tries to plug to you as the shiznit during Fresher's, this doesn't happen. The nearest thing you get to having a conversation is two people showing their arses in sequence.
I'm pretty fucked right now, actually. I'm pretty definitely going to fail my first assignment. Oh well.
Apparently, this post has been waiting for moderator approval in this forum for nearly ten years. It's been a long time coming, but by jiminy was it worth it.
I expect they're all grown up, moved on from this forum and are busy driving to the office in their BMW's desperate to make the payments on their huge mortgages........or maybe not Sx
Thanks for reminding me, my BMW needs a service. Been so busy lately since I bought that condo in Knightsbridge, cost me an arm and a leg
