    Hello there,

My girlfriend + I are starting to explore the idea of gathering together the ideas, innovations, and resources, of 10-12 like minded folks that would like to start a small commune in the North Carolina Mountains.

We are 31 + 29, one a teacher and artist, one a jack of all trades that involve outdoors. Young, work hard, love animals, and being sustainable.

Basically the idea would be to pool resources, throw down on some land, build small cabins or tree houses for the members to live in---farm to sustain ourselves--grow, raise, trade, sell what we can for cash when we need it. In addition to that, build 5-7 weekend or week long rental cabins on the other side of the property to let out to guests (willing to pay per night.... in that area averages $200). (+ most places are booked solid in that area)

So in a nutshell, a commune that sustains itself, with a little extra money coming in to help out when needed.

Looking for: Like minded folks that have become interested from reading this. People that love the nc mountains.... working outside..... with animals, and gardens.... that love to build or learn to build.... musicians.... artists....jacks of all trades!

Please reply if any of this interests you

    rdrop

also, send me your email addy if u can...

I've been looking for a commune that I could visit and/or stay at. I don't really have any skills that would be useful but I'd say I'm pretty smart and I learn quickly. I'm 20 right now but I'm planning on leaving in a year or two. I'm not sure how much money I'll have but whatever I won't mind sharing whatever I have. You can pm me or email me at dudeimoncoke@gmail.com.

hey guys - i am trying to get back to each of you now, send a FB request for 1 and sent an email to another. It is easier for me to communicate further those ways than on here. So hopefully you both will get one or the other from me shortly. thanks for the interest and i am very interested in talking to you both. :)

hi friends! which part of NC mountains? I'm in Charlotte. I have family in the foothills and lived in Boone for a little while... I've been seriously considering the communal thing for about 2 years now. I know that's the direction I'm heading, however I'm still living at home to work and save money. I know I'm a little late, but if yall are still looking for more like minded folk, I would like to chat:) my email is bkay0o@yahoo.com. you can also get back to me here. or on facebook, and in that case my email is bcarpen1@email.cpcc.edu

I have been thinking about joining a community for about a year now. I am sick of punching the time clock 40 hrs at minimum wage in boring old Ohio.. I have no interest in college I have tried it but its not my thing..

I feel I have a lot to contribute. I love cooking for people and am pretty good at it. I am an artist. I paint, sculpt, sew, and make hemp jewelry. I have some website/graphic design experience and can write well. I can play piano, the clarinet, some guitar, as well as sing. Not to mention, I am passionate about the environment and a hard worker.

I love the North Carolina mountains. Please get ahold of me and let me know if you are continuing your plans. I do not have much money saved up but I have my own car and am willing to work! I would love to join!

I lived in a commune in the NC mountains for about a year and a half. That area is really beautiful. I also visited another, which was a village of yurts up on top of a mountain, and knew a guy who lived in a third way out in the woods. It's a really cool area to have a commune - the weather is great all year long, and the locals tend to be really chill. Drop me an e-mail and let me know what's going on with your plans, I'd like to get back down there. harutzing at gmail

Sounds great man. I will be travelling around in 2011, and I should be in the NC area in May. Maybe I could stop by.
I am a musician, playing guitar & piano, & dabbling in a few others. I raised chickens & ducks as a hobby in my backyard for awhile. (I know pretty much all there is to know about raising chickens/ducks.). I also know a few things about wilderness survival.

I would love to stop by and/or stay awhile when you get this going... or even before.

    my contact: LetThereBeMoreLight554@gmail.com

    ...Thanks
