i tend to do that too. it's kind of like an afterthought, not really the main point, some additional detail, and i have a tendency to use brackets in such a case too. (like right now).

ace-k I like your idea. By the way, science deniers are also unable to deal with the FACT that vaccines have saved millions of lives and countless suffering. Pertussis vaccine DOES NOT cause autism. That garbage was disproved years ago.
Maybe you need to see the effect of a rabid animal bite on a human to understand what suffering is.

science doesn't claim to know it all, but we can come to certain conclusions based on what we do know, in constrast to religieon. Some people seem to be stuck in the dark ages and that's a pity.

Tell me about it Ace_K! I'm living in the American south, where reason gives way to religion.

Hi Gypsy Liveaboard, You would not believe the controversy over birth control here. Churches regularly picket clinics that dispense birth control meds and devices to folks who cannot afford them.

None of that has anything to do with Darwins theorys, what you are describing is called selective breeding, hybridization and animal husbandry.

Evolution takes place over hundreds of thousands of years as a result of environmental pressures.

oh but there is a similarity, and that is the selection of genes that get passed to offspring, the means and the timeframes involved are different

And if the SC gets a hold of the civil rights laws passed in the 60's and the women's rights laws passed since then you can kiss your rights goodby. They are puppets of the conservative right wing, especially the churchs.

That is very funny. The "right wing" is who passed civil rights legislation in the 60's. Tell me one thing the SC and/or the "right wing" has done against civil rights and woman's rights?

True evolution is "wild" evolution, and happens according to the "rules of the jungle" not animal husbandry.

    Is the science really Settled?

seems the proscription on dietary salt intake has just changed.

New info is constantly challenging settled science We need to be open even if others are not.

Science is always tentative and deals only with probabilities.
What we call "scientific theories" are nothing more than our speculations/future predictions concerning the probability of this or that happening.
    There are no absolutes.
    To think otherwise is foolish.

Vance 2335 I know that I am going to aggravate your racist, sexist mindset but the congress of the 60's is gone. We now have the most polarized congress in this century and the house of reps is dead in the water because all they are willing to do is pass bills which the Senate and the POTUS will not support. The house of reps, (by the way I am not giving them the respect of capital letters, this is an intentional deliberate insult), are strictly in lockstep with the tea party, an organization which I am sure that you have nothing but respect for.
