This thing has been mismanaged from the get-go.
    Code:
Duncan’s sister told The AP that her brother told health workers at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital that he was visiting the U.S. from Liberia, but he was sent home with antibiotics.
The man returned by ambulance to the hospital two days later with more critical symptoms and was finally admitted, WFAA in Dallas reports.
Duncan was vomiting when the ambulance arrived at the hospital, and the ambulance crew, “is among 12 to 18 people being monitored after exposure to the man. Some are members of his family, but not all,” Dallas city spokeswoman Sana Syed told The AP.
A ‘Don’t Ask Don’t Tell’ policy won’t work with Ebola. Hopefully other hospitals have learned a lesson from what happened in Texas.
    — sharon north east (@primaltwit) October 1, 2014
Dr. Mark Lester, executive vice president of Texas Health Resources, confirmed to CNN that a nurse in the emergency room questioned Duncan about his travel history, but that the information was not “fully communicated” to the rest of the medical team.
CNN reports that medical personnel gave Duncan basic blood tests, but not an Ebola screening, before sending him home with antibiotics. When he returned to the hospital on September 28, staff determined that he likely had Ebola and isolated him. Health officials told CNN Duncan tested positive for Ebola Tuesday.

Watson is a eugenicist who also says black people are not as intelligent as whites.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1566468/Nobel-scientist-snubbed-after-racism-claims.html

And you're right, I didn't initially click the link. I don't give credence to someone who suggests that antioxidants cause cancer. People like Watson would prefer to see most of the people on this earth done away with (especially black people), so of course he makes these claims.

So, tonight I am reading that the CDC finally got around to cleaning up the Ebola apartment in Dallas - 5 days after the man was diagnosed with Ebola.

HazMat suits and respirators. Respirators for something that "isn't airborne". Hmmm.

Black plastic erected outside the apartment to

prevent particles escaping during the clean.
But, "Ebola is not an airborne virus". Hmmm.

Oh please. The chances for a mutation that ends up being produced to specifically make it airborne are small, and for that to happen multiple times are smaller because of how viruses reproduce, the chances for a mutation that actually survives are minuscule in and of itself, and the chances of that actually getting released and somehow landing on another person to infect them are nearly impossible. Viruses don't just grow wings, you know. They're adapted for a specific environment. Those suits were to make sure there's a 0% chance of further infection - the more precautions you take, the more likely something won't happen, even if it would be the equivalent of a miracle of Satan (for you Christians out there) for such a thing to happen in the first place.

But please, don't let me interrupt your fear mongering. I'm just expressing my honest opinion about how things actually work. Carry on.

Well, of course. The only thing anyone ever cares about is the first of anything. Think: the average American knows the name Neil Armstrong, maybe Buzz Aldrin, but who was Michael Collins, and who were Pete Conrad and Alan Bean? Most people don't remember anymore, because of the type of society we've created for ourselves... which is what the media both feeds off of and fuels

Still, it's nice to hear that they're trying to be real responsible about it. I hope they do okay

The virus may not become "air borne" in the sense that the organism would survive for long periods of time outside the body and be resistant to drying in the air.

It is already transmittable by "droplet contact", such as from a sneeze.

This means when you're standing next to someone who is just becoming contagious with Ebola, it's okay if they breathe on you but you're at risk if they sneeze or cough.

Semantics aside, that's too much risk.

The virus can remain viable on surfaces for days.

Watch out if you take a taxi cab ride.

Don't let me interrupt your blissful denial.
I'm just stating facts and citing references.

This ebola thing is scary as hell, and I have preferred to bury my head in the sand and not think about it.

I work with the public, with money, cleaning surfaces of All Types of fluids...bodily fluids, according to the evening. I do use gloves, but still...

I think my immune system is fairly good; but, not necessarily better than a health care worker that has caught this deadly virus.

    mercysakes. :yikes:

I can hardly believe what I've just read. The CDC has told this man, whose wife and children are already sick, that he can return to work as a Nursing Assistant.

    What???

EXCLUSIVE: Friend of Texas Ebola patient who visited him in hospital has been told he can return to work as a nursing assistant... but his family must remain in quarantine
Aaron Yah, wife Youngor Jallah and four children ages 2,4,6, and 11 have been quarantined
Yah and Jallah visited Texas Ebola patient Thomas Duncan in hospital
Jallah, whose eyes appeared sticky and whose children were coughing, said she touched Duncan - her stepfather to be - when she gave him tea
CDC finally visited their flat last night and said Yah can go back to work
His family must stay in quarantine, he says his work tasks will be limited

Now this is what I heard the wipe out of people would be from someone deranged....air borne deadly diseases.....but I don't think this was intentional...and last I heard, there is only one known case in USA that is quarantined, but have not had the news on all day....took a break from the repeating over and over again the same things for a minute. Will watch later.

I now believe the Ebola scare is another media hoax. At the very least it's being exaggerated and blown out of proportion to scare people. I can see them using this staged crisis to later come forward with a vaccination that will be mandatory for everyone to take.

We shall see how this plays out.

Very true about its potent to stay on surfaces that have been exposed to bodily fluids.

Again, for it to become airborne even in that sense would be difficult. And the man being told he could return to work... well, he was only touched briefly, so it makes sense that he should be uncontaminated. Still... you're right. With all the hype, you'd think they'd take more precautions...

Oh, and it's not as much a hoax to scare people as it is a hype to scare people so they can rake in the money from selling articles. Your capacity to form worthwhile comments, on the other hand, is quite an impressive hoax. I mean, wherever did you pull the idea of a "mandatory vaccination" come from?

The U. S. news that I can find seems far behind what I've just read from the Daily Mail. The U. S. versions say the family of Yah and Jallah are well and doing a voluntary quarantine.

Keep in mind the Daily Mail is basically a tabloid and they sensationalize everything -- not that the US media doesn't, there's just a slightly different spin on it. Still, 98% of what I am reading is fear-mongering.
