the difference to me is the first one clearly has nice clean water and the second beach is most likely dirty or littered with empty liquor bottles

So, in other words, it's OK for one race to discriminate against another race as long as that race is fashionable, but it isn't OK for a race to discriminate another race when that race isn't fashionable :eye roll

It's not even about discrimination. It's a matter of who, regardless of race, is allowed to use public property vs. private property. This really isn't so complex.

That's a stereotype that isn't always true. Alcohol is banned by the tribe that lives by me. Their reservation is as neat and tidy as any place I've seen. They have excellent medical facilities that are used by natives and non-natives alike, the same with their workout facility.

In regards to bigotry against American Indians, I have heard that it is much more common in the northeastern part of the United States. Is this true?

Well I'm of Norwegian descent and my grandpa was half scandinavian and half native american. If you're of Norwegian descent and your ancestors immigrated a long time ago, it's probably more unusual not to have a native american ancestor than it is to have a native american ancestor.

There are lots of people of Norwegian descent in the pacific northwest and as far as I know there was never a problem between the native americans here and people of scandinavian descent. Obviously they got along pretty well if they had sex with each other

The reason they got along could be because Norwegians had a culture that was the most similar to the coastal indians here compared to other europeans. Norway was the last country in europe to become christian.

There's even a holiday in Norway celebrating native americans I guess.

More common in the north eastern part of the US? I have not heard that....
Personally, I have no bigotry against Amercian Indians, and no one I have ever spoke to in this part of the country do either, and there are many Indian names in the state of NY for towns and things....and many Indian reservations, as well.

That is good to hear, thank you Moonglow.

When I visited Connecticut about 20 years ago, someone had said that they were looked down upon a lot around there. I thought it odd.

One of my favorite places in NY is Council Rock in Cooperstwon, NY....named by the Indians.....a meeting ground for the Indians.....I always felt very wise and at peace standing there......

first it is obvious the two are not comparable, as has been pointed out numerous times because one is regarding private property, the other public.
I'm curious as to how old that sign for Durban is.
After doing a little digging it would seem that the photo in question is at least 30-40 years old and taken at a time when Apartheid was in full force there.

OP is trying to stir some shit when there is no shit in the pot worth stirring into a good stew.

I suppose now we should all start getting all upset over some other shit decades or centuries old.

    get over it already.................

    I love it-lol

In one post noxious complains about bringing up something that is decades old, and in the very next post noxious complains about slavery which is many more decades old-LOL

Another example of hippi-ocrasy anyone. Gotta love hippi-ocrasy.

I went to a hippi uni and one time we went on a retreat to some log cabins and the hippies raved about the log cabins and their beautiful hardwood floors. I was like you realize those floors and cabins were once trees that were logged by loggers-right????LOL

BTW slavery ended in 1865 before the area known as Washington state was even a state, and half of Norways population imigrated to the United States between 1880 and 1920 decades after the end of slavery, and I think it's a pretty safe bet my great grandmother was not kidnapped, raped, or was a slave as she is in all the family photos from that time.

And my grandpa was half native american and I don't think he was a slave, kidnapped or raped either by my full blood norwegian gradmother, and my dad was a quarter native american and I don't think he was raped by his scandinavian wife either-although i could be wrong-lol

..and I'm an 8th native american and I have never been enslaved, raped, or kidnapped either

Why haven't I been raped, enslaved, or kidnapped?

    I feel left out.

Am I not good enough to be raped, enslaved, or kidnapped?

    Now I'm sad
