You're absolutely right, and I agree that metabolism varies from person to person. You are one of the lucky ones who can eat what they want and not gain weight from it. Some people can eat a lot of carbs and not gain weight, yet they still may have high inflammatory markers, high blood glucose levels, and elevated triglycerides (which in and of themselves are meaniningless) from eating an abundance of refined carbs. So weight alone is not the only marker in determining how well a person handles certain foods, though can provide some indication.
I do most of the time but I also eat a lot of fish so I'm hoping that makes up for me forgetting to take the pill
At least you can't get pregnant, Jo. This stuff sounds really good, for your health that is. But how does it taste? :bobby:
I've always been too anal retentive about my weight to do that. I dont care about making it to 80, I just want a firm tooshie
It doesn't have any taste if you get it in capsule form. You can also buy the liquid, which is often flavored, and doesn't taste bad at all if you get a quality brand like Carlson.
The flavoured oils are pretty vile IMO. I tend to go for capsules. But - if you do but caps in quantity it's a good idea to keep them in the fridge, and now and then just pop one open to check the oil hasn't become rancid.
The only flavored liquid oil I've used is Carlson brand, and it did not taste vile at all. It was lemon flavored, and you could not even taste the fish. It tasted like lemony oil.
i rather suspect, the healthiest thing to consume on a regular basis, is diversity. oh yes, there are semi-obvious ways in which this can be overdone too. prudence, sense and science, in all things.
I agree. And my case for supplementing with omega 3 sources is I think based on science. I'm not a fanatic where supplements are concerned, and I try to get most of my micro nutrients from food sources. But I can't see much harm in using supplements if you think there's a case for doing so.
back around the turn of the previous century it seems to have been fairly common to make kids take it. according to what my dad used to tell me when he was still alive. cod liver oil mostly. personally i rather strongly suspect that where a part of something may be good for you, i doubt its AS good for, as in its natural context. making a separate thing out of it, is almost certain to mess it up one way or another. certainly nothing "natural" about doing so.
Yeah, here liver oil too, but it is mostly known to be from whales (here in the netherlands). It was still a legendary tool to scare your kids with at the end of the previous century. No doubt liver oil has health benefits but kids just remember the vile taste
I tried fish oil religiously for 2+ years to help lower my cholesterol. Didn't do a damn bit of good, but pravastatin has worked wonders.
But Yonus (Jonah for those of you atuned to the Sunday school reality of physical/mental) had the religious fatality of fish oil from the heart of the religious realm. As such He was the resolved will for 'justice' as opposed to 'living way' on behalf of the Fish larger than life against anything like God, Allah.
Did you know that once you are past 50, the lower your cholesterol, the greater your chance of dying?
