I enjoyed your post, it was pretty intense. To address this part, there are ares of the brain involved with speech processing, vocalizing speech, problem solving, etc. The brain is not simply involved at regulating autonomic processes.

I understand from some of my more powerful, 'out there' psychedelic experiences how one can view part of the mind existing outside the brain. It's really difficult to disseminate reflecting on said experiences, how much of an experience like that is breaking down conditioned and organized thought patterns built up, how much of that is processing abberationally with the brain reeling from the interaction with pharmalogical substance or is there legitimacy to the perceptions.

The appealing thing about meditation is I could eliminate the pharmalogical justification in regards to these types of experience, however based on my attempts in the past, meditation seems like a practice which requires.. uhh practice. I'm not sure I have the patience for that.

Yes but perhaps these speech processing,vocalization centres and problem solving nodes are merely receivers and conduits for information coming from a higher astral plane that ultimately serves as repository for the higher functions of conscious mental life.I have through deep meditation gone out of my head,so maybe there are some ultra-subtle physics as yet unknown to us that would allow for this phenomenon.Maybe this is where we go when we reincarnated,if you will allow me to entertain such a fanciful notion.The divine spark of Kundalini perhaps enter the egg and sperm at conception,energized the life breath of individuation,the seed soul,at point of orgasm.Of course this is all fantastical sophistry,yet the mysteries of may prove to be stranger than our wildest dreams.I approach the fuzzy illogic of the transmigration of the soul with bewildered scepticism,yet do not discount it without first giving it credible attention.At the very least I conclude their is more to life than gross mechanistic materialism,and believe that subtle energies permeate and course their way through unknown channels,one of these being the DNA love vibration,another being cosmic universal holistic synergy convergents,where miracles can occur as the divinely inspired teleology of the nexus of synchronous moments of perfect

I just told you the canvas has color, form, consistency, furthermore it's an organizational medium. How do you argue it's absence?

 

Mind and consciousness both are a part of each other. By definition then, mind is the set of cognitive faculties, mind functions, that enables consciousness, perception, thinking, judgement, and memory a characteristic of humans, but which also may apply to other life forms or demonstrably the essential organization of matter. Cognitive processes use existing knowledge and generate new knowledge. Knowledge is being shared. Matter has being which is communicable and we can see mineral language in the form of molecular bonds, crystals, the associative fractal math of living things, and the titillation of the taste buds. That potent communication exists in matter is the reason we can create thinking machines.

Where does life, the self, come from if not from the innate communication of matter?

Events are not their parameters. Things are only eventful by virtue of yours. If I had never had a body, I wouldn't have missed a thing.



How do you know what the evolution of self has been or hasn't been. Is a chemical reaction a conscious reaction?

There is no non-existence. Perceptually form is defined by negative space, that is we distinguish between what a thing is and what it is not. States of relative vacuum. A perfect vacuum is the rest state of matter.

Seems like the canvas metaphor could be a decent metaphor for something along the lines of a Theistic fine-tuning argument. However, I'm still having issue with my misconstrued interpretation of the metaphor as the painter (God) being the only thing beyond the organizational interaction of paint on canvas (Universe).

 

I like to think our wildest dreams can cover them, or rather uncover them. There's no reason I can find why the world couldn't coalesce around bliss. And continue to.

If so, that has form and color. Keep in mind, leading up to your metaphor we were talking about quantum mechanics. I don't really understand your metaphor in the given context without that argument.

To guerillabedlam: I was using the canvas as a metaphor for nothing, but it's not the same thing. In quantum mechanics virtual particles pop in and out of existence. In other words they become nothing. My argument has been that physical matter and nothingness are not the same.

 

There is no existence of the painting without the interaction of the paint to the canvas. The canvas seems much more appropriate as representative of the higgs field or perhaps even gravity, there is a necessarily organizational quality of the canvas for the paint, which I don't believe is so with virtual particles to matter.

To me, a virtual particle would represent something like dust getting on the painting perhaps.

the virtual particles i believe are quantum fluctuations in energy state of the underlying vaccuum, the zero-point-energy. so even the vacuum is not empty, it contains energy as well.

particles, whether they be fermions which we associate with matter, or bosons, the carrier of the fundamemntal forces are the quantifiable wave-function of energy fluctiation.

in a way, there is really no such thing as "particles", everything is a wave, which originates from the particles locality, which makes the wave. the wave doesn't collapse into what physicists would call a particle until it is interacted with in some way.

i love to discuss this stuff, just can't explain it in detail, or else it will be obvious i don't know what im talking about. this is quantum mechanics here, even physicists will admit they don't really understand how it can be like that, but they're also pretty certain that it is
