so do you listen to oldies or easy listening? those are the two types of stations that inevitably take december off from their regular genre.

But in the past they never started this early and when they did it was always a mixture, not straight “Christmas, Only” music

what i find so difficult myself to understand, is why should be it so hard for people to consider the possibility, that there could be and invisible god, or zillions of them, who have absolutely nothing to do, with christianity, or any other book, claim or belief, of any religion that has ever built a constructed place to meet, or written a book about it. a god without a hell, or a war, against anything, at all, what so ever. that's the kind of god, i believe, there really could be. doesn't have to be. there's nothing have to about anything. could simply just be. as for prayers, no, just invisible silent hugs. what's wrong with that? and no devil either. all that stuff people think they know about a god or gods, that's all just stuff human people have written or said. humans. not gods. so why couldn't there be a god, who exists, but has absolutely nothing to do, with any of it? i think christianity, just has a kind of narcissistic obsession with itself. one which has absolutely nothing to do, with whatever god or gods there might actually be instead. islam shares that with christianity. buddhism and the westernized version of hinduism are only half as bad. and basically, no other systems of belief have quite that same problem at all. and i know the reason christianity and islam have that problem. its their history. of their development and of the time and place where they began. christianity's milatince comes from having begun as an insurgancy against the roman occupation. islam has a similar excuse. but these are all human things. nothing to do with any god, who might also and instead, happen to exist.

now what about midwinter's eve? that's a natural thing that occurs. has nothing to do with what anyone believes. once a year there's a shortest day of the year. once a year there's a longest, and twice a year there are days when night and day are equal. i like the colored lights too. but i'd like to see them hung on trees that didn't have to be cut down. and on buildings and lamp posts and things like that.

i would normally join in, in any condemnation of Christmas and its bizarre traditions, and not forget the mass consumerism of it all. but i am really looking forward to this Christmas. because i get to see my first nephew for the first time who is only 6 months. and just cant wait. and for that i am really excited.

those are good things. they just don't require anyone to call it christer mass. midwinter's eve is a wonderful time for wonderful things to happen. and that's not a condemnation of anything either. just a silent recognition, that the universe is bigger then human words.
