I agree (obviously I would say). Just because it is a knowable consequence that it could happen and that certain muslims react to it as if it is hatespeech (some cartoons do seem to come close) does not mean the people at Charlie Herbo deserved to be slaughtered.

    Oh jeez..

Well, you know what they say: "Dead men tell no tales."

Looks like it's time for the media to just twist and alter the storyline to whatever they damn well please

It's all pretty grim. And I feel sorry for the victims. But I also feel sorry for the gunmen, who are themselves victims of a militant ideology.

What worries me is that this whole Islamist terror thing could run on for decades to come with no end in sight, much like the Israel/Palestine conflict, which has been going since I was a kid.

Good news for the military industrial complex I suppose, but not for the rest of us.

It is generalized to an extent.
But all groups require a background or they would not be groups.

And I somewhat agree to the statement that not all members of an organized group feel superior to everyone else. However, they do believe they are in the right group, or they wouldn't be there.

I'm not sure that's wholly correct in the case of Islam, as in a lot of Islamic countries it's not an optional thing, and criticism is not allowed. So you have in a sense to be a member of that group if your born in certain countries.

Yes, you can be compelled to join, that is one way of justifying the existence of the group. Extreme groups will often use violence against those that they feel are wrong or criticizing their correct beliefs.
That's what happened in the Paris attacks. They can't stand to have their views criticized, I believe because it reflects on their choice to belong to the group that has been criticized.

    But, I'm no psychologist.

I'm not saying your wrong about this - just pointing out that people sometimes don't have the luxury of a choice, as we do in western countries.

Of course it's one thing to be born into a religion and another to take up arms against those who are seen as the enemy.

I'm glad I wasn't born in Saudi though. That poor guy just expressing his views as we do without a second thought.

It kind of gives me the shits they are referred go as radical muslims, they were two losers with machine guns

Only part time muslims if that, and only when it suited them, off to be foreign fighters becuase they hadnt accomplished anything, in their mindte quickest way to be something other than an unepmloyed loser. Seems to be the MO for most foreign fighters

It wasnt really pushed in the media, especially internationally, but the guy in the. Sydney seige was just some dickhead about to get locked up for 20 years on 50 sex charges

Him and these brothers in paris, just hide behind a supposedly righteous cause so they dont have to face being fuckups. Yemen seriously, if they had any balls they would have gone to Syria or Libya

Also, the unwritten cop killer rule seems to be international. Execution on sight.

Now, the French government is saying the incident in the kosher market was an anti-Semitic thing.

They targeted a Jewish kosher supermarket, and I assume that was planned.

And it doesn't surprise me given last summer's events in Gaza. It made me angry, so I can imagine how one of these Islamists would feel. Not that I think their acts were in any way justified - but I can see how anger would build up in these people. And so we get stuck in this endless tit for tat cycle of violence.

I think it's human nature, when someone finds something they consider a profound truth, their elation compels them to want to transmit it to others. It's when it becomes a fanatical compulsion where it gets problematic.

I think it's like, 23% of the worlds population is Muslim. I don't want to do the math...)-:

I can't think of an idea more prevalent and more dangerous in human history. This mentality seems to cause every major problem that I can think of, and God can be replaced with "reality" or "the truth".

Why don't you talk about your own government's war on free speech at home? Stop fucking blaming "terrorism" for everything. Nobody is waging war on free speech except tyrannical governments.

I was listening to an interview with David Brooks this morning, and he actually mentioned that this incident in Paris is a wake up call for us in the United States to re-evaluate our own censorship of free speech, which seems to be far greater than the censorship in France.
