I doubt that a doctor has ever said that. They might say that a pill is the answer to one or two of them though.
The last time I went to a doctor they suggested I get on some medication for high blood pressure. I definitely think they are overly eager to prescribe drugs. I heard 25% of all kids are now on ADHD medication. It's a big reason why healthcare cost have gone up so much.
Actually, I'm doing the natural first. It's mainly simple stuff like avoiding salt and eating things like flax seeds.
My Grandma was walking through a Walgreens a few years ago and she passed out while waiting in line. She was sent to a hospital and the doctors determined that she had a weak heart and put her blood thinning medication. One of the side effects was water pooling up in her legs so the doctors put her on more drugs to deal with the side effects. She ended up dying a year later from the side effects. If would have almost been better if she died naturally from a heart problem instead of dealing with all the painful side effects. The drug company's pockets were thoroughly lined at the end of the day though.
Salt really isn't the cause of high blood pressure. It's really sugar, since when you eat sugar and spike your insulin, your kidneys retain salt (sodium), which as a result elevates blood pressure. People who go on a low carb diet notice that one of the first changes is a drop in blood pressure. A lot of people have said that eliminating sugar and refined carbs nets far better results than taking some pharmaceutical drug while still eating the same garbage. Salt is actually good for you and absolutely essential for health, granted it's real salt and not the refined shit most people think of, which is not healthy. I personally supplement with about 5 grams of Himalayan pink salt (taken in water with apple cider vinegar and iodine) each and every day, and my blood pressure is as good as it can be.
It may work, but you couldn't have picked a worse example to make your general point about doctors. High blood pressure is one of the leading causes of easily preventable death, and any doctor who sends someone away with untreated high blood pressure is guilty of malpractice, if not criminal negligence. He can't follow you around all the time and make you eat better and exercise, but he can give you a pill that is inexpensive, effective, and has no serious side effects.
So lemme get this straight; refined salt is unhealthy but pink 'Himalayan' salt with from a mine in Pakistan (300 km from the Himalayas btw), of all places, is?... I defy you to show one single study actually comparing the health effects of different types of salt. The mineral percentages are so low as to be negligible, if you're not getting these minerals from other foods you're gonna have to eat a lotta goddamn salt to make up for it. Lastly, once any of these salts are dissolved with foods there is zero discernible flavor difference.
Refined salt is just that: refined. Natural salt is 84 percent sodium chloride, and processed salt is 98 percent. So, what comprises the rest? The remaining 16 percent of natural salt consists of other naturally occurring minerals, including trace minerals like silicon, phosphorous and vanadium. The remaining two percent of processed salt is comprised of man-made chemicals, such as moisture absorbents, and a little added iodine. Himalayan salt is the purest salt in the world. Who says it has to be from Pakistan (the Himalayas span numerous countries), as if that is relevant with regard to its health benefits. Your body NEEDS salt to survive and function. It carries nutrients in and out of cells, is a major component of blood plasma and lymphatic fluid, and is responsible for brain to muscle communication. Salt is healthy, but probably not while consumed in its refined form and in the context of a high-sugar Standard American Diet, which causes the body to retain sodium.
Are the drug companies ever found to be criminally negligent when their drugs kill people (which they do... all the time)? Not often.
Uuh, because thats where "Himalayan pink" salt comes from... It is mined in the Khewra Salt Mine, the second-largest salt mine in the world, located in Khewra, Jhelum District, Punjab, Pakistan, the foothills of the Salt Range, about 300 km from the Himalayas, 160 km from Islamabad, and 260 km from Lahore. (wiki) How is it the purest? it obviously has an impurity, thats why its pink. It's from traces of iron oxide.
also, high blood pressure is easily preventable through diet and exercise. I think its negligent that almost all mainstream doctors prescribe pills first and good diet and exercise second, if at all. of course I dont think doctors are completely at fault for this- most patients go to the doctor wanting instant results. They don't want to be told to change their lifestyle or lose 50 lbs
