Interesting thought but why wouldn't it be your kid anymore? Because it is 'tweaked' or the genetic code is altered does not change the genetics came from you right? That we would be inferior to them doesn't really matter either it seems. Can't a kid be superior to its parents?

Who needs cosmetics when they are already genetically altered to look perfect We'll probably be put to work in the sewers (unless our/their digestive system is altered too )

 

i guess it would depend on the level of tweaking. if the DNA was crafted by say, selecting the best possible alleles from the parents DNA then it would be the parents child. if it was made from DNA that the parents didn't have then it wouldn't be their child, or maybe it would if the child at least had some or most of their dna.

i can imagine where there is some huge DNA bank, containing alleles for choosing. maybe some of the DNA is harvested from living humans or maybe some of it is purely engineered from scratch. Chromosomes could be designed by picking from this gene pool, and then assembled into chromsomes.

this type of gross manipulation could have subtle unknown consequences like certain genes causing propensity for unknown diseases so thorough research and testing would have to be done and there are ethical issues here.
