I guess for a certain kind of girl that may count. You also mentioned you're in bad shape. Depending on how serious that is that could (obviously) be a just as important factor... which wouldn't change if you were female. It is probably a combi of things, including your whiny attitude.

Some women get kinda desperate in their 30's. Maybe that's what that teacher was referrig to. But I wouldn't place all my bets on that to change my lovelife if I were OP

If you lie in order to get someone to like you, firstly, it will be a relationship built on a lie, which is a foundation built to crumble with the test of time. Secondly, you won't be truely happy because you were lying about who you are or what your intentions are. Just start talking to random people, do research. One that wants help, but refuses to make an effort to help oneself will be lost forever. Confidence isn't easy to acquire, but is definitely possible. Or maybe it is easy?

 

It is easy once the quarter of self acceptance has dropped Self acceptance does not mean wallowing in your current unsatisfying situation of course.
