While picking up the Cub Cadet the WoodRat scored an new set of back wheels and tires... Massey Ferguson style. Same diameter but wider, good tread and very little dry rot... Nice stuff.

Cub is sitting in the driveway. Neighbor wouldn't take any money for gas or the help.

Time to pretend this cig is a doob.

Wow! After another day of garage cleaning....it's finally done! All the crap is out. All of my woodworking stuff is organized and arranged where I tentatively think it should go. All of the 100+ year old lumber and flooring that came out of my house is stacked neatly on sawhorses. As I type this....I just remembered that I have a bunch of rough cut Cedar under my deck that I should move.

Finally....after 20+ years of building stuff wherever I could find the space....I am going to have my own wood shop!

During this process, I realized I have 4 or 5 routers. No idea where some of those came from. I also have an incredible collection of different sized nails....boxes and boxes of them....which is odd because I rarely use nails...or at least those kinds of nails. There were so many nails that when the scrap metal dudes were here today, I gave them a full commercial sized box of roofing nails along with all the other shit. I have no use for 20 or 25 lbs of roofing nails (or however much was in that box).

Who wants a router? I don't need 5 of them.

Yeah? Cool. Let me have a chance to check them out and make sure they all run. I don't even know what brands they are or exactly where they came from on some of them. It was like...I was opening things up and....look at that! Another router! Where the hell did all these routers come from? I think I have a few circular saws too.

My existing router didn't survive the flood of 2011 very well... I don't know why I still have it other than I was hoping I could get it working again... Got a crate of tools still, in the same condition.

Yeah flood in 2011... Fire in 2012. WTF's up with that? That place was a curse...

Those tires/wheels fit... Barely. I knew they would bolt up. WoodRat wheels have always been mounted backwards... For some reason Bready designed it that way. So these are the same, mounted backwards. They just clear the rear fenders, with a little tweaking. Being almost twice as wide as the originals they look like chrome reverse wheels without the chrome. The tires are in very good shape, and look like dirt track treads... Goodyears too. Sweet!

WoodRat is gonna be a badass machine when done.

How do you mount them backwards? Are you turning the rim around?

Just got a call from my redneck friends. Everyone should have a few of them. My redneck friends are actually great people who know I'm not really one of them but they still love me. I like engines, 4x4s, fishing, drinking beer and occasionally shooting some guns so that's good enough for them. So they know I just got some new tires on my Jeep and they are out "muddin" right now and invited me to join them. Good times but I've had a few beers so I'm not going to drive. I'll go tomorrow night. That's going to be fun!

Got both sides on... Fenders need tweaked. Actually straightened as they were once a little bit higher and further inward. I'm also going to want to shim the wheels out just a hair. Looks fucking wild, man! A true Rat Rod now.

Got the new bushings in the sector gear for the steering, should add a grease fitting there. Assemble that tomorrow and figure out the drag link and WoodRat will be movable again.

Battery is out of the Cub and on the charger... Should be a good battery. He found the "missing" side panel, so sheet metal is complete, even found the mower deck chute. While the battery is charging I gotta air up the tires and see where they are at... If I have to tube them or foam fill I will do that, tread looks good.... Dry rot, but no torn sidewalls.

Why these guys leave these things outside I'll never know. Tears them up...

At some point it's gonna need a paint job... Cub Cadet/MTD, in their infinite wisdom applied a thick enamel with no primer. What the fuck's up with that. Metal is still good although it has more than it's share of dings and dents. Hmmm.... A black Cub Cadet with school bus yellow trim? She's gonna need a name...

Opened my computer this morning and the first thing I saw was a video of my uncle playing The Dance by Garth Brooks on guitar. He was a Viet Nam vet who committed suicide 3 years ago. I wasn't prepared to see that video. Ah...monday. I'm off to the battle. Have a good one, people.
