i somewhat agree that spontanaity can be a good thing, as long as it isnt too impulsive in nature. i myself tend to analyze situations toa degree that can really stress me out sometimes. sometimes you need to to do something and actually be okay with the fact that you dont know what the exact outcome will be, i have trouble with this sometimes because this "leap of faith". its not a strict rule, but the correlation between intelligence quotient (perhaps "g" would be a better measure than IQ) and violent crime. of course intelligent people are capable of violence as well and when it occurs its often of a calculating nature. there are other factors at play also such as psychiatric disorder/mental illness. the incidence is far less though by orders of magnitude and there are plenty of research publications on the subject. IQ range 80-90 is the most dangerous, IQs lower than that interestingly are less likely to be violent. this doesnt necessarily apply to a single individual but to the modal IQ of entire communities (ie. the highest count of individuals in the community have IQs in this range). unlike calculating a mean where large deviations in a few individuals can greatly increase/decrease the mean ... the mode is unaffected.
I know.....I have been angry before. Who doesn't get angry sometimes? So I was thinking about this very much lately....and said...ok....do not knee jerk anymore with your anger and say anything you may regret later......There is where I have needed to work on my spontaneity and go away and think about things and learn new ways to deal with anger.....Most of my life....I never expressed any anger...i was noised out by others, so I turned inward....lately....after my mom kept urging me to express my anger to her....verbally....I did finally at the root of it....and with words...and then the next day she died. I was told she probably knew it was safe to let go then....she was dieing anyway.....and Iknow that....but still what bad timing......but now that I understand the dynamic of anger....i am refining everything Ihave had to catch up and learn quickly here...but I am getting there....
I took Oceanography in college, and we studied the human brain and dolphin brain there....with photos and graphs and the before his time professor I had taught us this then. Dolphins have longer neo cortextes than humans with more fissurization.....
There is the paleo cortex...primitive brain....cortex....middle brain and neo cortex.....the evolved brain.
I noticed evolving in real life took a lot longer than in virtual reality So I just evolved into a level 97 wizard instead
It was written down eons ago that the almighty powerful Irminsul would start to grow wing from her shoulder blades. Big black and purple wings. Dragon wings. And she will morph into the almighty beast and cast fire down on thy earth! And hurricane cyclone winds from her flapping wings. Muhahahah VvvV
Of course that then begs the ol' nature vs nature question. How much of a child's early development contributes to their IQ? There are far too many contributing factors to draw any kind of conclusion from that correlation. A society which can offer every child a fair start is probably more likely to produce less violence than simply a more intelligent society.
That is a good point and as a side that is likely not considered in such data, what do we make of intelligent scientists who develop atomic weapons and other hi-tech devices that have little to no application outside of killing people?
I wouldn't lump sex in with money and war. We can do without the latter two, but without sex? Also humans lived for thousands of years without money. So it's not correct to say we loved money since the beginning. We developed it at a certain stage.
If we weren't so subjective to greed money could actually stay a worthwile tool. It's a great invention on itself, it is just easily taken advantage of as well. And aren't we kind of opportunistic by nature?
If humans were not covetous and greedy money would not be a problem. But they are unfortunately.People are happy to have more than they need whilst others have jack shit. So back to the theme of the thread - maybe we need to evolve beyond our present state.
It seems evolution is just a very slow process. I think we're doing just fine by slowly but steady progressing. Although we should keep in mind that everything gained can also be lost in just a generation So we need to saveguard the things and mindsets that give us the means to progress. As I am not certain in which way we are heading (or that we need to head in a particular direction) I am also not certain that we NEED to lose or overcome a certain aspect of ourselves, even when this is greed, of which I acknowledge it is also causing much suffering and stagnation.... but it can be argued greed and the lack of complacency has also helped improving our situation and progressed certain things quicker. I'm kinda playing devil's advocate here because it seems to me greed and lack of complacency are slightly different things and I also think humanity as a whole would be better off by spreading the wealth, for which greed is not really beneficial
Interesting how written words can be interpreted. Since the beginning Since it's beginning Since the beginning of time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeZ3nCXyb_Q
