I could argue that you're already contributing to decline, if you think that a better educational system isn't essential or worth pursuing.
I like Bernie, and will vote for him (or Warren). Hillary, imo, is unelectable. Not just cause she's got baggage. She won't get elected because the US is about to put more boots on the ground in the ME. Americans will never elect a woman president when the country is being fed Warmongering propaganda. They tried hard to make US fear ISIS so that they could extend the Patriot Act. Well it's not working anymore...
Interesting. I agree. This could be where paleo cons and the left meet. No need to bang the war drum. Our troops are needed at the borders.
Not much of an explanation. Pay whom? Who decides the curriculum? Churches? Government ? Businesses? Who owns the schools?
The rich get an excellent education, the middle class get a fair one (if they can afford it), and the poor get nothing. Meanwhile the privateers get rich. Read why Diane Ravitch, conservative think tank affiliate, educational historian, policy analyst, research professor, and George H. Bush's Assistant Secretary of Education was a supporter of charter schools, private schools, "choice", and merit pay....and then changed her mind.
Sounds like it might be time for some folks to get a hold of some $ for their kids. That's what we do.
I'm surprised he's as conservative about marijuana as he is. Thought Bernie Sanders would be a lot more understanding of the need to decriminalize.
I wouldn't be too sure about us putting boots on the ground. There's a lot of resistance to putting troops in a combat role. But, I think you underestimate the voting public. The majority of Dems would vote for Hillary regardless of warmongering. Plus, she has a more hawkish history than other Dem candidates.
...what? How is turning our education system into a money machine for companies and the already-wealthy an answer? That's like suggesting privatization was a wonderful move for jails. It's simply the opposite of what reality has shown. I'm completely drawing a blank on trying to think of something that's better off after being privatized. I'm perfectly fine with being proven wrong on that, I just can't think of anything at the moment. But privatizing the entire educational system would not work out well.
I think you've seen some erroneous information. Bernie is for recreational legalization. He's for separating hemp from being grouped with marijuana. He's voted against using resources to pursue the drug war. He's voted for legalizing medical marijuana (which included a re-classification out of Sched. 1). Here, it's easier to just link to his page on that "On The Issues" site: http://www.ontheissues.org/Domestic/Bernie_Sanders_Drugs.htm Of course there's more info than that out there, but it's a good start.
I wouldn't/couldn't vote for Bernie, or any Democrat candidate for that matter, and the same goes for many of those who have announced their candidacy under the Republican ticket.
So, that bridge that fell down in Minnesota---might the citizens be taking up a collection to rebuild it? The recent very bad weather in the mid west---citizens on their own? Good places for privatization? Anyway--Sanders-Warren, or Warren-Sanders. They would pay more---well--SOME attention to the middle class working people--OR maybe become subject to the 'Kennedy solution if too many began to take them seriously. AS has been seen over the last 2 decades, it's super easy to demonize anyone what with the right wing talking heads continual denigration of the the left.
Ah yeah scratch. Thats for state or even county. Why does the left need to federalize everything? Ahem , how many taxpayers are left in this country? LOL 49%'er? are we?
I plan on voting for Bernie Sanders myself. I first heard about him from a friend and I was hoping that he was going to run for president. And I'm glad he decided to run as a Democrat and not an Independent. I think if he had, he would have no chance.
Yeah, I guess any state or county could come up with the millions & millions a bucks to rebuild bridges and those folks in the mid west can rebuild their homes without Fema. Car washes and bake sales--that'll get it. (did I just see some pigs flying?) I prefer all for one and one for all, but that's too much to ask in this dog eat dog political climate. And Ayn Rand was perfectly within her rights to take welfare the last part of her life. Yup. Sticking to her principles was the way to go.
