Depends. Prostitution is a business, but because men are often stronger than women, it is dangerous or unfair for the woman. If, by some miraculous business model, the woman is treated like any normal vendor of services, then it's the way it SHOULD be... not empowering. I hate that term. It's so patronizing.

Imv prostitution (dislike that word and prefer 'sex-worker if any word is necessary) has nothing to do with degradation of women. It's the pimps who degrade women. If, autonomously, a woman wants sex with many men whether paid for or not, it is a matter for her and she shouldn't feel any need for approval by anyone else.
