Why Drive Drunk/high?

My view is that to drive when unfit due to drink or drugs is the action of a selfish and irresponsible idiot.

No excuses.

 

I don't think anyone will go bankrupt from a cab ride....but if they think they will...they should see how much an OWI costs in this country. I bet the first offense easily costs $5000 by the time it's over.

I have a two beer limit and I have no problem calling a cab. There is only one cab service in my town and I have their number in my phone. But I usually don't need a cab because I have my shit worked out ahead of time or I'm within walking distance of my house.

As far as why people take the chance.....because they're intoxicated and mistakenly thought they were still fine to drive.

 

Yes it is. You can get a dui just the same as alcohol.

I am all for people supporting the free use of weed...but don't make us stoners look like morons while you do it

 

why drive at all? well i know why. because too many people seem to think the only thing possible, is to have a world more about trying to impress each other, then one where everyone can have real opportunities for real gratification.

THAT is really really dumb. so dumb most people don't have the slightest idea just how dumb it is. and sadly, there are people who call themselves each and every political side, who want to keep each other from realizing just how dumb that really is.

i would also ask, why can't people put a certain two and two together, as in why do even people who mostly realize its not ok to drive under the influence of whatever, think its ok to license whatever to be sold, by the having to be consumed on the spot, in places that the only way to get to or from, is by driving?

 

If you are out and smoking herb, most people aren't going to go home the minute they finish smoking. With herb...you will come down, and level off. With alcohol...you just about have to sleep that off. Smoking herb and drinking alcohol...no comparison really. Totally different animals.

I do not drink and drive, I always plan ahead if I am going to drink.


Wanna try a very easy experiment testing smoking against driving. Try walking a straight line after drinking too much...now do it with herb. Not even close to the same thing, eh?


I never saw a someone that was just stoned on herb stagger, start fights, puke, fall, or get mad when someone says "don't drive".

 

i just see it as a challenge. like a video game on hard mode.

 

I was thinking about this the other day because around here people drink and drive like its no thing...its pretty easy to figure out the why - everything is spread out, not many people live in walking distance to a bar, buses only run during the day and even then no one who owns a car really has a clue how to use the bus, it can cost 80+ dollars for a round trip taxi ride.

there are 3 different levels of intoxication in regards to a DUI - one is having a couple of drinks and being perfectly capable of operating a motor vehicle but being over the legal limit, the next being tipsy or drunk but you reach that point in intoxication where you're convinced you're not drunk - and then, being so wasted you're just an idiot who thinks its perfectly fine to drive.

no one starts out their night determined to drive drunk by the end of the night. I'm not saying its okay, personally i dont bother going out unless i have a DD, but i can see how people get in those situations and aren't thinking clearly and think its okay.

 

It is the the most disproportionately punished crime in the world.
