They just had that guy on for entertainment value though.

Maybe having a voice coach would help?

Besides that, you can still sing if you enjoy singing without necessarily being a national star or something

I get SO emotional about song lyrics. When something has lyrics I can relate to or find a song that hits a heartstring, man, I cry.

    Music is powerful stuff.

Dolly should get more credit for doing the original. I don't think most people know that she did.

So the story goes that Dolly wrote this about Porter Wagoner when she broke up with him. I think it takes on more meaning knowing it was written coming from the heart.

She used to end her weekly TV show with a shorter version.

Nice song and all--the one that REALLY gets me is that song from some years back that said---"I want to be just like you, dad, I want to be just like you," about a neglectful dad that gets a son just like him.

Cat's in the Cradle, Harry Chapin I think. But if you go back a bit further you get "A boy named Sue" by Johnny Cash, a classic!

See, thereis an old joke...not mine.....

two strangers are sitting on a bus....and one says hello to the other one...the one being said hello to asks..."What do you mean by that?"

You never heard that before. I was spinning off from that.

For the record, musically, I like Whitney's version the best. Dolly still does a good original, and gets points for writing this about a real love.

If only this song wasn't so closely associated with "The Body Guard", which by all accounts sucked.

As David Spade put it after seeing it, "I-eee-I-eee-I want my money back".

Hey man, just because I get a little emotional over a song doesn't mean I'm gay.

I've been singing parts of it to myself though since I posted this thread, which I think pretty much makes me an honorary homo
