Is It Saturday, Or Next Saturday?

I always hear people talk like this but I've never understood it.

Today is Monday.
Let's say I was doing something on the Saturday coming, in 5 days. Now I would say "Let us do something on Saturday" but others come up with "let us do something next Saturday" which leaves me wondering, well is that this Saturday in 5 days, or the Saturday after, the "next" Saturday?

The only thing that makes sense to me is that no matter what, the Saturday coming in 5 days is regardlessly the "next" Saturday. But why waste your time and breath announcing that when you could just say Saturday? And then what do you call next weeks Saturday? the Saturday "after"?

My friends aren't the brightest, and probably wouldn't know when that was. I don't even know if I'd know when that was.

they are the same .. the next saturday that occurs will always be on saturday.

saturday after next would imply that its not the next saturday, but the next one after.

 

Ahhh baked, you sit and think about that for 1/2 hr, then look down and realise you've gone through all the cheetos
