If You Found Out Your Boss Says Horrible Things About You, Would You Quit?

Now you are a free bird for a minute, anyway, eh?

I need to correct what I said before....as I did not stay with the season for spite....It was a hotel that i worked at for a couple of years and was only open seasonally....and when it was not open people would collect unemployment and then go back. I liked the hotel alot, but the people made it ugly in the end......I stayed with it for my unemployment. here I was a waitress that could handle more tables and people every night, and our paychecks were based on that mostly at dinner...i was their best waitress.....and this lady who gave me hell started off being captain, but then became maitre^d after the maitre^d that i originally started with died.....He adored me.
Out of meanness, she would give me only one table at dinner...where I would just stand there and twiddle my thumbs watching everyone else making money, but at breakfast and lunch where the amount of people that came was split evenly whether you worked or not, I had to do all of the work......I stayed, as i wanted my unemployment that season.
If not for that, I would have walked out.....but doing that, I would have forfeited any unemployment, and she made that check go down on me, too., anyway.

Since you quit my previous post no longer applies. I'm sorry to hear things didn't work out. I was suggesting that you could stick it out but I guess you tried but to no avail. I hope you have better luck with your next job!

 

Just a guess, I think you did the right thing by knocking it on the head.

I've been my own boss for years now, and TBH working for someone else again would be a complete nightmare for me.

A lot of organisations seem to like having a nutjob as the boss. The sort who revel in being disliked. Maybe its an extension/symptom of a diseased society.
I can work people out quickly, keep my temper (usually) and get along with most people. But its incredible just how one dysfunctional prick can attract likeminded types in an organisation. If you see that, its best to jump ship early.

If a boss doesnt have a passion for their work, you sometimes see a disturbing trait. Thats when they get some sort of thrill by giving silly orders/creating drama and shit.

BTW I've been sacked from nearly every job I had a boss in. (largely that was my intention). Since I was my own boss, I haven't had a dispute for years.

 

In the future, I recommend giving the two weeks notice. No matter how bad the boss(s) are.

Another rule I try to stick to is, don't quit a job until you have your new one. Unless you're rich of course.

This is perhaps the whiniest thing I've encountered on this site. Why do you care what other people think?

too late but quit and vacation wherever you are with the money then go home in september. I would have totally told boss everything she did, and gave her a snarky attitude back -- professionally, of course.
There's no way she's not knowing she was wrong.

actually I would have tried to stick it out. *shrugs* and still spoke my mind.
