Ooh, nice. I miss Stanley Park. More pics please! I lived in Vancouver for a while. Miss the mountains too.
First there was one then a few more then this! These gulls were gathering slowly while I sat on a bench at the lake for a while. It was neat (and a little unsettling!) as they flew over one by one, lining up on the pier. It was like a scene from The Birds. Where the crows all gather on the line at the school… just before the attack. lol I captured it on video too. Maybe I'll make a sequel, The Gulls.
Those pics are really cool lucy! It's like the bird military. Here are some shots of wildflowers growing near the rideau river.
I think I recognize some of them Loosestrife, Goldenrod, Thistle, Aster, Queen Anne Lace, Bindweed or is that Poison Hemlock? Hotwater
Not poison hemlock, queen anne's lace. They look really similar though. You were right about the rest! I have no clue what the first flower pic is though and the yellow one is some kind of dandelion.
The first one is Bottle Gentian (botanical name Gentiana andrewsii). It likes moisture so is usually found near water or in the woods. The flowers actually stay closed like that and need strong pollinators like bumblebees to pry them open to get inside.
I love sunflowers because nothing goes to waste...... A famous horticulturalist once said “Sunflowers Are Pure, Undistilled Summer” Hotwater
