Referred to as 'soft drinks' in australia, not soda or pop. Typical australians, anything that doesn't get you drunk is soft
There is definitely a regional word for carbonated beverages, and this map shows it. You must live in a Coke county. My county calls it Soda. I don't think this map is entirely accurate because most people from Oregon and Washington seem to call it soda.
The marketing behind Coke Zero and Diet Coke is pretty amusing. Both are very similar in ingredients yet Diet Coke exists primarily for women while Coke Zero exists because men find it more appealing than "diet".
We call it a soft drink here too sometimes. Pop or soft drinks. I say soda sometimes because I like the word though. And I like my coke in ginger ale form.
Lol I'm in disbelief how blue my state is. I expected it to be solid yellow. At least my county is yellow, which must be why I always called it soda.
I rarely drink pop, but when I do it's either diet coke, or diet dr pepper. I have freebased original Coca-Cola before though.
I call it fizzy drink. I've always found it difficult ordering soda drinks in Germany. If you want Coke, you need to ask specifically for "Coca Cola". Fanta doesn't often work either, it's "Fanta Orange". Some folk are responsive to it but others not. Seems to differ from state to state too like Brandenburg, who aren't as "English" as the west. If you want non fizzy water, you need to ask for still too. Lol.
I am intrigued by this Coke Life thing. I Googled it and might check it out, if it were available in my locale.
We call it sinas here in the Netherlands Of course I never get Fanta myself as I discovered a cheap brand that tastes just as good (most cheap brands don't). Btw diet sinas or coke/soda is usually referred to as 'light' here... So diet orange is sinas light and diet coke is cola light :-D
it always kind of annoys me when a new product is introduced to the market, and nobody bothers to advertise it. it's like, why bother? not that i would drink it anyway. i don't drink any sort of pop anymore. not for health reasons or anything so noble; i just prefer other, more thirst quenching drinks.
Same actually. I hardly ever drink soft drink, not a health decision I just find it makes me more thirsty.
I have mixed feelings about this one. I much prefer the Mexican coke with the real sugar. I also think their formula for the cola syrup slightly different as it's always tasted a little bit more caramelly to me. But as far as diet sodas go, I can't complain much about this one. I hate artificial sweeteners, but stevia can be okay in small doses (also ice cold and drank really fast, lol). I'm certainly not going to savor it, though. It's pretty much just to satisfy a craving. I've been trying to steer away from soda lately and have gotten into mixing seltzer or tonic water with cranberry juice, maybe with a shot of gin if I'm feeling frisky.
never thought coke was much of a life. either kind. life is exploring and making things. consuming is ok too, mostly, but it doesn't have very much to do with what i think of as living. now if i could have them print something i designed myself, instead of just a stupid name on a bottle, well now that might be interesting, but it wouldn't be that ugly red color of theirs either.
I found this in a green bottle. I'd noticed it before but hadn't taken too much notice until this thread. Now I see.
i didn't even know it was a product. hence my previous response. not that this changes anything. i haven't yet seen or noticed it. i thought this was about that thing they were doing with printing you name on the bottle if you wanted them too. i don't regularly purchase nor consume carbonated beverages. about the only time i do, is the fountain in a fast food joint, those rare occasions i eat at one. when i do buy any at a store, its usually one of those store name generic things, in a clear bottle and without food coloring. i do like something called orangina, which mostly caught my attention, because of the furrys in its early advertising. but coke or pepsi products, either one, no thank you.
