roasted potatoes; roasted delicato squash; salad with a lettuce mix from my farmshare, tomato, carrot, goat cheese, homemade dressing; (pre)breaded frozen haddock.

It was a challenging walk today, if that's what you want to call it. More like a trying-to-stay-on-my-feet. Within 5 minutes it went from calm and sunny to pouring rain. The wind started whipping the trees around, and me as well! I thought I was going to end up in one of those trees. Or in the lake. I was a tad fearful for my life. A nice guy stopped his car to ask if I wanted a lift home. But I was only a few steps away at that point. He was quite the looker, I should have got in and navigated him around the block a few times, tell him that I was disoriented. lol So barely any exercise and I was soaked to the bone by the time I got in. Crap. But I lifted my spirits with a treat for dinner. A fig and port salametti with a peppers Brie. Yum! I couldn't tell if the peppers (that's all it listed in the ingredients) was cracked peppercorns or pieces of hot dried capsicum. But it was nice and spicy.

It was sooo good! I love the flavour. I just realized I didn't do much cooking in that meal. I guess I should have posted in the eating thread. I'm so easily confused. lol

I finally got hubby to the store. I made spaghetti with meat sauce on egg noodles. He wanted egg noodles because they are easier for him.

I haven't eaten yet. I like to rest after I cook and clean up all but what I'm eating out of.

I made that root vegetable salad I had mentioned the other day. I really liked it! I got out my mandoline slicer and shaved kohlrabi, zucchini, golden beets, striped beets (Chioggia), and fennel. I added snow peas and asparagus, but they'd be too difficult with the mandoline, you just chop the snow peas thin into julienne slices. The asparagus you shave with a peeler, the pieces come out nice and curled.

I added fresh chopped dill and salt and pepper, then grated some lemon zest over the lot and squeezed in the juice of the lemon with a bit of olive oil. Tossed et voila!

Hot dogs with mustard and coleslaw and potato chips tonight. Lazy dinner. A friend got me a Sci-Fi B-Movie package, I love those crazy movies. First one was an old Japanese movie with requisite swooning and screaming female, over the top frantic score, and out of sync dubbing. Next up is Attack of the 50 ft Woman ('58 version). Woman gets revenge on cheating husband when she grows to gigantic proportions after an alien encounter. Should be a scream. Perfect movies to accompany the hot dogs. Maybe I should make popcorn too!

Dressed up bangers and mash. Gravy is red onions, consomme, summer savory and black pepper. Made a heirloom tomato salad and brussel sprouts dressed with lemon juice, butter and maple syrup.
