I was wondering if my dreads are too small. Too skinny. Someone told me that if they're too skinny then eventually they'll break off (like in a few years but still). Mine are really skinny. I did it that way because my hair is thin.

I'm wondering if this is true. Also, I'm thinking about redoing my dreads. They keep on falling apart on me, and I feel like i"m constantly trying to fix them. Some of them are taking pretty well though. But, I don't want to redo them really. Maybe I can just try to combign them.

Anyways, any advice is really appreciated. Here's a pic of me with the dreads that was taken a few days ago so you have an idea of how small I'm talking about.

First on.. Nope dreads are not to small.. you can do them pretty skinny if u like.

since u didn’t grow your dreads out from a bald scalp.. you backcombed the hair u had.. which means at first there skinny.. when they grow out they bunch up and become a little fatter...

I did my friends dread locks she had about 80 after i was done... they are skinny but growing out nice and thick.. mine are the same way.. I had 79 dread when I first started off... i only have 50 now but one ones i didn’t attach are a bit fatter too.

If you feel you could redo them… but that’s just using a lot more time.. you could let them unravel and re-natting.. ask Fleassy about this she has some top hand action on this subject of re-natting but if you do re-do them id suggest really pulling the hair up and knotting it good.. but so there a lot shorter. they will be a bit fatter after they tighten and might lock up easyer when the fat fluffy new dreadies.

Sorry i pressed post a bit wuick there

I say leave them. Leavy leave them! beacue mine were even thinner than yours. LET them unravvel... still look after them but if some of them REALLY dont want to be raveled the way your doing it then let them unravvel, give it a few months and they will sort themselfs out. It means a few months of looking like you have an 80's back comb 'Do but it also means they will tighten the way TEHY want to be.

I have very thing and fine hair and honestly neevr thougth dreads would work for me.. but they did i just had to learn to let the m do waht they wanted... they are like tree roots, they need space to expand and grow :)

Leave, I think those are fine. And like everyone said they will get fatter as the grow. Just look @ B. Marley's when he was younger and then how fat they were when he died

*hugs* Thanks Fleassy. You always have such awesome advice. Some of them are nice and tight and some of them are just falling apart all the time. It seems to be less so than it was. But, it's still worrying me.

My husband keeps on saying that my hair may not be meant for dreads. lol But, I love them! And I like the way skinny dreads look which is why I did them this way. But, when someone told me that skinny dreads can break easily after a while it worried me.

    *hugs* Thanks to everyone!

No they wont break, basically as time goes on they will get thicker, you might have to watch out for ones that are very thin at the roots when the rest of ther dreads got thicker because that could put strain on the few hairs holding it on but if that happnes you can just combine it with another dread :)
