So, we are exclusive? Just you and me and not Glen Glen? Ha.. You'd be very disappointed with me then.
No relatives left, and my friends generally don't expect anything from me at Xmas because I'm not a Christian, and they're completely tied up with family anyway. I bought my one gift item in November, and helped my husband pick out one more. I exchange presents with my boyfriend, and my husband has to get something for his girlfriend. That couple is very traditional about such things, so we play along.
I really hate Christmas shopping from the depths of my soul. Nothing makes me feel more like I'm stuck in the matrix. I had to buy for my son, partner, and mom this year. I usually have to buy for my sister and brother in law too but they're out of town this year. Occasionally two of my best friends will get me gifts and I end up feeling really guilty for not getting them anything, but they don't do it every year thank goodness. Then some friends and I do a late Christmas in January where we all draw names and make our person a homemade gift. I really enjoy doing that.
I had a trycycle once, I had to carry around a bicycle pump strapped over my shoulder like Robin Hood with his arrows, every couple of minutes I'd have to stop and pump up the third wheel
I have 5 people I had to get real presents for and a couple of roommates that I got something small, so 7. I got my mom a gift crtificate to one of her favourite restaurants since she said all she wanted ws time with the family. I got my dad a cutting board engraved with our family name. I got my boyfriend an office chair. I got my brother a waffle iron like the one he keeps trying to take from my parents. I got my brother's girlfriend a tea set. For my roommates I ordered shot glasses. I actually ordered 4 of them (2 for me and my boyfriend) and they will come engraved with each of our names on them. I don't mind Christmas shopping, since I'm normally pretty good at coming up with gift ideas. Unfortunately that somehow means that everyone else in my family wants me to go help them Christmas shop too.... so once I was finished my Christmas shopping I had to go help my mom find things twice and go help my dad find things 3 times. And if my super last minute boyfriend needs any help tonight I will be going to help him finish his shopping after work. I gave him a whole list of ideas last night though, so hopefully he can handle that on his own.
I feel so blessed NONE! We don't do gifts at christmas. No guilty feelings, no money spend on obligatory presents and time wasted in crowded stores (well if one hates that so much why not buy online?). So, little til none disgust for this holiday either. I am pretty happy with my family
I actually don't do any Christmas shopping. My family all stopped doing gifts many years ago. Too commercial. But I still went out for Black Friday deals; a little after the fact this year, but still in time to get a few good deals.
on average, one time every four years you can actually go in and get your grocery shopping done without some toothless old lady jumping out and blocking the whole aisle as she stares cluelessly at the bread loaves.
i'm glad the merchantile feeding freenzy is over for another year. normal saturday schedules tomarrow instead of sunday/holiday ones. i hope. out of milk again and need to get some more meat and bread type things, though all in all i could probably survive for a week or two on everything else i've got in the house. so many times i've had less to my name and no way of getting more. now its just a matter of inconvenience that ain't no thing. which is you know, that's what i feel like i have to be thankful for. and i really am. hope everyone else's challanges are as trivial and your happiness is greater then them even if they're not.
I'm waiting 24 more hrs to take advantage of the after-Christmas clearance sales. Money is a serious issue for me at this time.
