Hello, no, you didn't say anything wrong. I'm skinny, too bad. But I'm also strange *hinthint* . Regards Gyro
Yes but if his degree was given to him in North america, he could very well be telling the truth about his qualifications. It's not really just laypeople here who use calories to mean kilocalories, it's everyone. Our food is labeled that way so it keeps things less confusing.
Hello, oh, I have no doubt about that, really. I have contact to engineers and astronomers from the new world. They get that right. I just looked up the US health department. When it comes to brochures and random web pages they astonishingly often write cal, in the papers with 'more meat' behind it they write kcal. Regards Gyro
So until you have read one of his scholarly articles you cannot say much, can you, since this is a discussion between laypeople.
Back on topic... I don't think I'd date someone as skinny and stork-like as my ex again. It was like trying to cuddle jack skellington. I guess they are right about the "dad bods" being easy to cuddle.
Hello, it was, until the hint about the master studies appeared. You might know, I like to geek out on certain topics and I might be wrong on some facts. That's OK, I guess. But when I say 'I'm the lead engineer of xxx and this thing is like I said', then I mean it that way and I emphase it by dropping in a qualification. And in that case 'this thing' better is like I said or I get my behind kicked. Hm, I not sure if that is a cultural difference between the new and the old world or if it is just me? Well, I looked up a label of US rice crispies. That is interesting, everything has units, like 65g of fat. But the energy has no units at all, but the label 'Calories' in front. In that case calories is OK, because it is not a unit. But it is strange that they left out the units at all. Regards Gyro
Hello, initially I wanted to poke HollowedHermit just a bit. But that escalated a bit I guess. Regards Gyro
The only time in my entire adult life that I wasn't packing at least a few extra pounds was when I was in the Marines (40 years ago.) None of my girlfriends (all sex partners) prior to my marriage ever expressed the opinion that I needed to slim down. My wife of 36 years was the same way earlier in our marriage. Now, we're both carrying more weight than either of us would like and would both like to shed at least some of it. Even so, it hasn't really affected our sex life!
Oh I would have to disagree with that. I am completely different than I was when I was young. Completely.
I know so. I was...let's say a troubled youth... I am nothing like that anymore. I am a great Father, advice giver and reasonably successful. 30 years ago no one would have thought I would be any of these things.
I was married to a stork like guy for 14 years. I've always liked thin guys. Not exclusive, but a definite preference. But you know, as the social group ages, some softening happens, collagen breakdown, a couple pounds, a illness or injury slowing you down. So what if Helga likes pillowy guys? Plenty of chubby women have admirers. Now, MOD HAT ON: The next person who calls anothe one a troll in here goes on vacation. It seems that low post members should get to know the vibe of the site.
Hello, nothing wrong with that. Women come in all kinds of colours and flavours. For me, it turned out that I was virtually never with a woman that was like the mental image I had for many years of the woman of my dreams. Nevertheless, they had all something in commom. The reason is that this mental image includes a lot of the visual attributes like hair colour, body shape, etc., and very few others like should like old radios. Very few fit into that categories, and as you said, that attributes change over time anyways. I think it is better to change that into something more broad, like should be not too skinny and not too meaty, should have an affinity to or be accepting to geeky behaviour, etc. Of course, there are hard criteria, like smoking, that always is a show stopper. But the why question Helga asked is hard to answer, at least for me. So why is it such way? Is it socialisation (I think it is, to a big part) or is it more 'in the genes'? Regards Gyro
Not on purpose. I eat a lot...but I never gain weight...and by the way...men and women are not the same thing.
People are attracted to what they are attracted to. I also like a big man...even with a buddha belly! Big, hairy men are what catches my eye...I love facial hair on a man...long beards are hot!
well...if i have to give any comment on this topic... we all are who we are...for me the weight of brains is equally important then a few kilo's more... :bandana: i do not like morbid obese or anorexic...but even then...i show my respect... a human being should not be made a laugh off because she/he is fat,thin... oh,piece...yeah...a beard is my attitude in life... and i do like a nice tattoo on a lady...
