^^^ Don't eat beans before bed... ___________________________________________ Planting and mulching all day today... About 3/4 done.
I did a bunch of garden work today too but decided to wait on planting vegetables because it was getting dark. I did get all of the weeding, fertilizing, tilling and chicken/rabbit fence work done. So all of that is ready to start planting tomorrow but I kind of got side-tracked and started weeding the flower gardens until it got dark outside.
I helped Hubby dig holes for my new rose bushes. We sit on top of Soapstone so it's always a challenge to dig. You sometimes have to pretty much chisel out the holes. We need one more rose bush. We'll put down some landscaping cloth and some pine straw. It's a brand new bed.
They actually did that when I was a kid in Tennessee. They were expanding the airport and blasted a bunch of stuff to make it happen. I could hear the explosions at my house.
Piper went home with my daughter today after being with me for 6 1/2 months. I hope she doesn't have too tough a time adjusting to being in a strange apartment, alone, all day. I think she'll be so jumpy and bark alot. I think she will be scared. She's always barked at every little thing. I'm sad for her that way.
Soapstone is actually a good carving material for rock carvings. Especially if you're new to it. It's relatively soft, malleable, and gives a very shiny appearance when polished.
The old farmer. who lived up the street from me when I was a child, had a big soapstone bowl sitting under a spigot outside. He kept water in it for the cats and dogs. He said his mother had made it.
i carved one once for a school assignment cant remember if it was a whale or a penguin but im sure my mother still has it somewhere
I Have A Few Alabaster Pieces In My Home, Including A Much Loved Statue Of "David"......I Like Your Work...... Cheers Glen.
This was mostly catching up where I left off last year with the front patio garden and the meditation garden out back... Crazy hummingbird was hovering next to me while I was planting a dwarf rhododendron out front. I still don't have a vegetable garden, because... no tiller/chicken wire/fencing/etc.
I took Dad to his appointment to the cardiologist's office, in the hospital, to have his pacemaker checked (this is done twice a year). Handicapped parking was totally full so I had to drop him off at the entrance where he could sit down. Then I had to find parking quite a distance away. I walked back to the entrance and we went up to the office. He saw the technician who does the procedure and we went back down stairs. I got him seated and walked back to the car. When I picked him up I realized that I had spent more time walking than he did in the appointment. Did I mention it was raining?
