How Interested Are You In Actually Getting To Know People Here?

I've been on this site for about a decade and a half. I've made many great friends here, have met a handful of folks irl, and have had relationships with a few members as well. However, as I get older and as people tend to visit less frequently (or stop altogether) I find it harder to get motivated to be actively social. I would still be very open to getting to know people here, as I think this site attracts really unique folks and fosters pretty interesting discussions. But I don't put myself out there nearly as much as I used to. Nowadays, I'm more of a "if you want to get to know me, ask" type of person as opposed to a "Hello! Hi! Hey, everyone! What's up?!" kind of person.

Hip is a Funny one though cos friends come and Go ( for one reason or another ) i sometimes wonder if people you connect with remember you when they are gone ?

 

being "open" doesn't have a whole lot to do with "knowing" anyone.
it means someone might think they know more about you then they do.
there's this thing called statistics. you can sort of tell how someone is likely to act in a given situation, and lots of ways to get some idea what their perspectives are on different things,
but more then a handful of people, can you even really keep track of who thinks which way about what?
we're all each a unique combination, even when a lot of the pieces we're a combination of are fairly common.
nothing wrong with wanting to have a lot of people call you friend,
but if they actually think they know you, anyone who thinks they know me, is mostly fooling themselves, even in person, let alone on line.
i'm as mostly harmless as its possible for a human to get,
but if anyone thinks they really know me, well they're welcome to think whatever they want to, as long as they're not hurting anything.

I personally 'feel' as though I care about the people I talk to here. (Though some might argue with that statement.)
Whether I 'know' them or not is an entirely different point of view. And I'm betting, without speaking face to face with someone, you couldn't possibly know who they are. Even then... it takes a very long time.

I wouldn't mind visiting a few people I've met here, but in my current situation I can barely get to a gas station or the grocery store.
I feel like I'd need to get my mind right first. I'm a little weird when it comes to meeting people.

 

1. Do you believe in an afterlife?
in a manor of speaking. i believe everything we don't know is possible. and there is more we don't know then we do.
i believe i've had more then one birth, life and death on more then one previous other world.
i'll tell you what i don't believe; i don't believe any religion has the slightest idea what its talking about.
gods there might be, or something like them, but that's a seperate thing with no clear relationship between the two.

2. Do you talk to your parent as often as you'd like, or not at all because reasons?
in my case the "reasons" is they're both dead. (or is that just an excuse?)
i never had strong feelings against them when they were alive,
but only as a very young infant did i feel like i missed them at all when i didn't see them.

3. Cat or dog or other, person?
cats, because like me, they like affection but don't depend on it. (although i like anything with four legs that likes me)

4. Political affiliation?
green, because without an environment that can sustain our own species, what else is there?

5. Would you or have you ever killed another person, for any reason?
not intentionally. but if someone would rather kill themselves then have a conscience, i'm pretty sure i wouldn't try very hard to stop them.

6. Gay or straight?
no same gender errotic attraction on my part, but totally indifference to it outside of sex.

7. Do you believe the possibility of intelligent life other than ours, exists in the universe?
i don't believe in the possibility of there not being.

8. Are you attracted to anything the majority of society deems taboo?
i don't know about taboo, there's a lot mutual disinterest.

9. Are you happy with your life?
my life isn't what i see happiness in terms of. i'm not sure i know better how to explain it then that.

10. Have your friend been there for you, when needing it most?
when am i supposed to have needed it most?
i've had a small number of very good friends, some, but not all of my life.
