The real problem with making public nudity legal at this time, is how the human body is perceived. As I've said in another thread, the textile world sees the human body as shameful and in need of covering. The pornography industry has only added to this view by reducing the human body to a mere sex toy. We've got to do a complete paradigm shift, and began to simply accept who we are, as we are; without the need to hide from ourselves, and others. Clothing only hinders us, and keeps us fearful, and ashamed. Lets talk openly to people about acceptance of ourselves, and help each other see that we are beautiful people just as we are.
I think the "not daring enough to be porn" industries like television are creating or perpetuating the problem by "almost showing nudity" as a means of titillating. I would welcome non-sexual depiction of nudity to that medium. Fine art can do it. Photography can, too. Label it in the guide as "TN" (Tasteful Nudity) and be done with it. I think "almost nudity" is obscene. The body is not.
I believe nude when possible but clothes when necessary. Hygiene might drive the need for clothing on public transportation. But public parks, swimming pools and beaches should be clothing optional. Your own yard ought to be clothing optional. I think we are a very long way from getting to that point but it's nice to think about.

For me it is 100% legal if I want to do it and no one can legally stop me. I say "fuck'em". Where I'm staying now, I walk around naked all the time if I can. I'm camped on public land while going to college. I have been confronted (at a different location in a different county) over being naked in public, threatened with charges, and my response was "dude, fuck it. If they don't like seeing my naked ass then they can always look the other direction. This is America. It's a free country and I'll do whatever the fuck I want."
Sounds like you have a men problem rather than a naturist problem. In naturism the behavior you detail is not tolerated. There are whole towns that are naturist. Perhaps you'll learn about them though they're nothing at all like New England.
i wold like to get on a bus full of nude people - absolutely. I would definitely sit on a towel, but that should be the norm anyway.
I don't agree with public nudity. In the right environment, yeah sure. But not just for the general public. I wouldn't want my 5 year old niece having blokes and their gear hanging out around her. As far as I'm concerned, that's child abuse. I think there's a time and place for it, zoned by other people with that same desire and interest. Not for public transport.
