If your goal is really to reduce violent crime, you ought to be going after illegal drugs and alcohol. Guns do not cause crime. If all guns were gone tomorrow, the following day criminals would have guns. That's because criminals don't obey laws. And crime rates would soar because the rest of us would become very easy targets.
An important stat that's missing from the already listed stats in the percent of victims who were under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol when killed by another, either murder or justifiable homicide; e.g., drunk/high suspect killed while attempting to commit rape. When taken in totality, drugs and/or alcohol are involved in 90% of all murders and homicide. All murder is homicide. Not all homicide is murder. Homicide can be justifiable (legal) or criminal. It is illogical to blame guns for crime.
Ok. What more regulation do you feel is needed? We're already slated to remove the illegals that are the main drug dealers and gang members from Mexico. We have laws that address these things. But it doesn't sound like you're taking me very seriously. I think drugs are dangerous. I know DUI's cause accidents or worse. I have personal experience with overdoses and know that drugs kill. I've lost 3 friends to overdoses; two from heroin. I have gotten my own DUI and you know what I learned? Not to drive. And I don't drink anymore. Do you think there should be more laws around driving under the influence? Anyway I've had a gun pointed at me by an off duty, retired police captain. I didn't like it. I don't like guns. What do you suppose he was thinking when he pulled his piece in traffic? His perfect right. He felt his life might be in danger. Allegedly. I would have liked to press charges but could not. The police would not take a statement. Back to the issues... Guns can kill you as well. We try to limit that by imposing regulations on ammunition and what types of weapons you may purchase, as well as who may purchase them.
There have certainly been any number of deaths from firearms--accidentally or on purpose. I personally don't use any--drugs, alcohol or guns. Never have, never will.
Laguna Beach, OK, so I'm confused as to how you can talk like a DEA agent and say we need to rid ourselves of drugs, alcohol, and marijuana. Then do a 180 and say this: I too voted for legalization here in Oregon. It has brought lots of jobs to the rural areas and the nomadic hippies who were struggling. I also have a very libertarian belief on drug legalization as well. Yet I can guarantee you that legalization of drugs is the best way to reduce cartel control.
6-eyed shaman, I've never written what you have claimed. What I did write is that guns don't cause crime. In fact, the opposite is true. Criminals cause crime. If all guns disappeared from the USA tomorrow, the following day criminals will have guns. That's because criminals don't obey laws. Hence, your Utopian fantasy will create easy victims for criminals.
Hey, if you are quoting Christ ,remember what Christ said about the rich dudes attaining heaven is as probable as a camel going through the eye of a needle. So how can you endorse a super-rich guy like Trump who can bring hell upon America with all his sexism and racism ! Also Christ tells you to love your neighbour, and renounce all your riches to serve the poor. Trump here does the opposite by spreading hatred against America's neighbour Mexico and poor Mexican immigrants trying to support their families. That's a major no-no in Christianity, technically speaking. If you want to support Trump do so on your own points, not by quoting Christ and Christian scriptures. That is the height of hypocrisy, imho.
That is why my wall is up for people talking their religion and not practicing what they preach and believe in at all....Hypocrisy , is right.
