Thank you for posting! It is inspiring to see the benefit of starting a religion. If only I had a good scheme I could be rich, tax free to boot!

The strongest indication that OP is a troll is when he ignores the serious on topic reactions but responds to allthe banter and personal remarks ;)
The worst about this one imo is that he poses to speak for jehovahs witnesses by claiming to be one. If he actually was one himself i for one would mind his religious threads far less. Now they're all dubious attempts to see how forummers will jump on the 'religious fool'. Nasty...

there's actually a star trek ds9 episode that imo explores spirituality. In the series the Bajorans (an alien race from the alpha quadrant) have a religion and there is a hierarchy of religious figures, as well as gods and demons. Well, as part of the story this devout figure of the Bajoran religion is approached by a possessed guy. It goes into like how she is tempted, and her journey through devout faith and so on.

If you are interested in this sort of thing, like if you're a believer and all that, you might find the episode interesting; and it comes at an interesting point in the series. The episode actually might not be as meaningful without the background story to go with it. I've seen every preceding episode, so it's really easy for me to forget that you folks would most likely be going in blind. Well it's episode 170, The Changing Face of Evil. It totally relates to religious faith.

I used to watch DS9, always found it a bit of a disappointment after NextGen.
Odo the shapeshifter was cool though.
Did they ever make a film of it?

Nope. I didn't watch DS9 but did watch all the movies. But most that were set during (or closest to) that time period (like Nemesis i think) were a disappointment as well. Especially after First contact.

Don't worry. This thread is fun and all but don't forget we are feeding a feeble troll.

    I get it now.

Often I am the one screaming "don't feed the trolls" but I enjoy this conversation...I now see all those times I said don't feed the trolls they were enjoying the feeding.

sort of comes down to that. i don't mind feeding them, i just wish people wouldn't elect them.

god is cool, whatever it is that it is, it or they, as it could be one personality in many bodies, or a computer or anything,
but it isn't some human who lived and died a couple of thousand years ago, nor any one other thing anyone, including myself, has ever imagined about it.

i know that because people have been talking about, and even fighting over such things (which is also likely against their will)
for longer the even moses or abraham or bodha, were a twinkle in their own grandpappy's eye.

the universal wonder of strangeness, is what it is, with or without a personality.
or there could be billions of them, and without the kind of hierarchy christianity claims, or anything like that at all.

it does bother me though, when someone claims i can't love some unknown thing, unless i choose to imagine the same things about it as they do.

the thing about belief, people have built this narrow little box about it, not everyone the same box, but they've built these little tiny boxes, and locked themselves inside of them,
and what could be, is a huge, possibly limitless, universe of absolutely anything, with no reason to have anything to do, with their little narrow boxes, whatever they call them.

Like it or not he is your God to. He is the creator, he designed everything here on earth. His exquisite designs cannot be matched by humans. Our complex existence comes from a loving Creator. Human society has been influenced by Satan from the very beginning and permeates society now. Which is the cause of why people suffer and die. That was not God's original intention when he created humans. He wanted happy people to fill the earth and expand the garden of Eden throughout the earth and never die.

all of the gods of all of the religions are the same god, i'll go along with that. even the ones that have multiple gods or don't mention a god being at all.
but i see no evidence, and no signature of that or any god, on what christianity, or any other one belief, claims to know about it.
no compelling reason to believe in the goodness of anything that wishes to be feared, nor the evil of other god-like beings who don't subscribe to its hierarchy.
and morality is still consideration, and aggressiveness is still evil, whatever god or gods, may or may not happen to exist.
and all of the names humans have given them are made up by humans, and every book we have on this earth was written by humans.
i'm all for your god, and the good intentions of your belief, like the good intentions of all beliefs.
but that is all they are, no more no less. and no less altered by what any of us chooses to call anything.
where's the evidence that what you call god, created anything?
nature exists. the universe exists. gods MAY exist.
and the universal wonder of strangeness can be felt and experienced.
the harm you do others doesn't require a god to exist to harm yourself by doing so.

    which raises another question:
if none of us ever died, and we all kept making babies, where would we all stand, let alone find anything to eat?

ah yah, but how would that help overpopulation. if you mean encouraging people to kill each other, that only works temporarily.
sooner or later a war will stop, and when everyone who survives comes home from it,
they make up for lost time trying to see how many more babies they can make.

nature has a solution that works for other species, and i believe will eventually work for us,
and its as a result of what we've done and are doing that will likely bring it about.

and that is diseases and plagues. miserable and not very exciting i know.
and i'm not wishing it on our species, but it is what the most influential seem to be insisting upon.

not just one big plague, or a war, though there could be wars too,
people can always find excuses for them.
but multiple plagues, mutating too rapidly to even be named, let alone cures found for them.

unless we flat out stop using coal and oil for anything other then home heating and cooking,
as many of us as there are, i believe this is the direction we're headed.

not some god floating down out of the sky, or even a cosmic accident like a big meteor.
(although if we worry the rest of the universe enough, someone could throw something that big at us,
at near the speed of light, and from further away then we are likely to be able to reach any time soon)

then 19 years later it will be time for a new war or disease or whatever. its not like satan will go retire when things look like they are going well
