I get where your coming from. Moonglow was saying/implying that believing in a God makes you more inclined to care less about about animal welfare, but I didn't get what the reasoning behind that was from what she said.

From what you're saying I take it that you mean if there's a God then there's a natural hierarchy of scale rather than equality between living beings, which might make one less inclined to give a shit about hurting things lower down the pecking order.

 

Bingo! That is it. You understood. I often hear people saying....that is there for me to eat.....ok, then.....then were are talking Darwin......right....? Survival of the fittest....Abandon all concepts of god and love then....or are we having it both ways depending on how it suits us?

I am against abortion.....bible belt people say...even thought there is a major population problem of the human species.....is one way....but I am going to go kill that supper now with one of my many guns...another way....have it both ways....no.......hypocritical, IMO.

 

Personally, I go both ways. I never hurt animals. I don't even like to kill spiders, even though they creep me the fuck out. I do eat meat though. We have canines in our mouths for a reason. We can eat meat without being inhumane. If a tiger were to get the jump on me and eat me, good for him/her. I'm probably delicious. haha

 

And I'm pro-choice, as long as it's done early enough. However, I hate it when women treat abortion as just another form of birth-control. That shit is too common and it sickens me; especially considering so many women can't even get preggers, as much as they want to.

Having known some women who've had the procedure, I find it unlikely that many people would put themselves through the trauma of that just through laziness. I'm sure there are some, but it's a minority that's enormously exaggerated by pro-life propaganda.

 

I don't kill anything, either...except for ticks and mosquitoes......I even leave the stink bugs in this house be. they are not hurting anyone....and I catch spiders and put them outside. I respect all of life. I grew up with parents who served meat....My mom turned vegetarian in the last 10 years of her life. I very seldom eat meat...but do love seafood......and if no one killed seafood, I am not sure sure I would either. I just cannot kill things.....There are plenty of things for me to eat.....I don't mind eggs and cheese and there are other sources of protein...once in awhile I will eat meat......or dead carcass...another way to look at it. Kill something...no....not for me....

I can't stand seafood, for some reason. I don't eat a lot of veggies, myself; mostly due to tactile reasons. Foods that feel weird in my mouth make me gag. For example, I like the flavor of onions, but I can't eat them because of the texture.

I love you, dude, but please don't say anything about Moonglow that can be construed as negative or disrespectful. I mean, speak your mind and express your opinion, but she's one of my best friends on here, so at least try to be a little more respectful when you're expressing said opinion. I'm asking as a friend.

 

don't get me wrong, moonglow is awesome and adds much to the community, but she has a special child like naive perspective, while not a terrible thing, it helps to understand that when communicating with her.
I don't mean that she is essentially wrong in her conclusions, but it often reminds me of a young girls apprehension of the way the world works.

 

Thanks for saying that. You know I'm a loyal person. lol I can't help it. I think I just didn't like the "mindset of an 11 year-old girl" part. There's a lot more to her than meets the eye, and she helped calm me down a lot a couple of nights ago when I was ready hurt my stepdad in a serious way. And she's not as naïve as you might think.

Yeah, nothing wrong with a certain amount of youthfulness. I like that a lot about her, actually. She has a way of making people see things from a more positive perspective, which we could all use a little more of.

as far as making better sense of my posts that's easy,
you simply take the bus downtown, be sure to stop and listen to the cat lady yell, but don't sit on the left.
Then baste for 30 minutes while gently stroking a dead cat, afterwards be sure to flambe the tires in order to get the best gas mileage, but not on a Wednesday and FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, NEVER ON A TUESDAY!!!!!
