I provided a link to the ones who are organizing it in the USA, not a wiki link as rolling has done,

The ones who are organising the rally you think is going on in USA! You don't even live in the USA!
    Don't believe everything you read!

Your lot are not running the entire thing across the world! They were doing it before any of us were born!

There maybe a few linking in some how! But believe me, they are not running what this topic is about, just because Trump is now president!

Wake up and smell the coffee!

Morrow, just because it is all over the world, and forgive me, but it is not, is this happening in the uk?

The history of it and it coming to the USA started with trump winning the election and their interests have nothing to do with the world of women in general... It had to do with trump

This is their first year In the USA I believe?. and who is promoting this has a lot to do with it. Who, what group is pushing this in the USA

Well neither of us will be in attendance. Let's see how it goes. But it is being used as an anti trump platform in the usa... a means to say he is controlling my body, taking my rights away. What rights have you lost? People who attend are not going there and thinking about women around the world... they are thinking about themsekves. Their own cause just like the ones who are brining this to the USA.

You are actually talking about something else I think, did you actually read the title to this thread? Did you actually read what others have posted here?

Yes it's happening in the UK, sorry if that puts a spanner in the works for you, but it's happened across the world on this day, since early 1900s..

Read! What your talking about has nothing to do with this thread, can you not see that?

Make your own thread about you blm and KKK protests, but once again, you are trying to invade a topic with your beliefs in what today actually means!
And it's not what your on about!

Yes morrow, he asked that it be explained. It is new to the USA... not new to 5 countries but new to the usa. How long has it been happening in the uk and did you hear of it before today?

And if so how have you celebrated it in the past?

This is about new to the USA. The group that is promoting it has an agenda and it appears to not be about women but about trump

Ok, I ask you once, into YouTube, type in,

    International women's day 2017

Then tell me it's about us only!

It's happened here in UK since about 1911..

Of course I've heard of it before today!

Put any of the last popular years of YouTube, and it's there! Put it into Google!

It's actually a public holiday in some countries, in recognition of women!

Go look! Your not even trying now!

He never mentioned it was new to USA! You assumed that's what he was saying, he actually was referring to international women's day!

Ok wll he is asking about it in the USA... this new thing. People can give the history of something but it doesn't mean that the cell that is using it has the same agenda or goal as the origins.

I don't think it is a big deal in Canada. In the office there is not mention of it. I took a day a month anyways or saved them up. :). Maybe now that th USA is making it a big deal, perhaps our prime minister will take the day off tomorrow from doing nothing and get on tv again to announce how he is a feminist and wears a pink tie to prove it... and will make it a big deal.

And it has been around for 100 years? You have to wonder why now is this coming to the usa

He did say new.. it is a new protest he said. New to the usa

I do wish you would not leave morrow. . I am understanding your point of view, and I hear you. :)

Just my thing is that he is asking what it is "new protests in the USA"... to understand that you have to look at the groups that are organizing this protest.

This day is a good time to reflect on how far we have come and also how far we still need to go. There are still countries that women have no rights. While we still have issues as basic as wage parity we also have gains.

A day of reflection for those in the past who worked and protested for change.

There is absolutely nothing in your link that indicates BLM or Obama planned this. This is why you seem like a trollolol. Either that or you genuinely believe everything is BLM or Obama's fault..not sure which one is worse

Good for you, way to stick it to Vandelay industries. Lets see them try to import/export without you!

    I'm a She! A Sssshhhhheeeeee!

And it seems that we have had this women's day here in the USA last year if I recall. But it wasn't as politicized as it is today. I just suck at remembering the exact dates weak-ass of holidays that usually don't involve any partying. Such as Presidents' Day or international women's day for example.

There is a history of this day on the website -

2011 saw the 100 year centenary of International Women's Day - with the first IWD event held exactly 100 years ago in 1911 in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland. In the United States, President Barack Obama proclaimed March 2011 to be "Women's History Month", calling Americans to mark IWD by reflecting on "the extraordinary accomplishments of women" in shaping the country's history. The then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton launched the "100 Women Initiative: Empowering Women and Girls through International Exchanges". In the United Kingdom, celebrity activist Annie Lennox lead a superb march across one of London's iconic bridges raising awareness in support for global charity Women for Women International. Further charities such as Oxfam have run extensive activity supporting IWD and many celebrities and business leaders also actively support the day. https://www.internationalwomensday.com/About

^. Nope, no connection at all to obama or Hilary. No reason at all to think that women's march org, whose mission statement is to affirm black lives has any connection to black lives matter, especially when their mission statement mirrors BLM. And to find their supporters are clearly anti trump. NRDC. And their site tells you to not shop at places that voted right. They have actually looked into employees in companies and se if they made any denoations to the Republican Party and tells you to not shop there or how owners voted. That I find disturbing.. and is about ethics and what they stand for in supporting of a party. I could not stand beside an org lthat would support that, no matter what.

It isn't about women as a whole.

6eyed, Not as publicized as it is today because groups are using it as an anti trump platform to which obama probably funnelled money to before leaving office, and Hilary probably gives lots of money to today.

Maybe this particular women's day is about Trump and his anti supporters. Who knows? I am really not looking into it.
But when is anything not about Donald Trump these days? He has taken center stage and has sucked all of the air out of the room for too long now.

This day did not come to be for Trump originally.....

Not that I much care......i do not put much stock into any of these designated days....it is every day for something, or no days for something, imo.

Just like my mother said..."Don't celebrate Mother's Day......just because someone decided to designate that day as such."
