The point is that there is not always a clear cut distinction between what society and even science considers to be male or female humans.

There is a continuum between both the norms of biological sex and social gender. To deny that range and insist that only the extremes exist does no good for anyone, especially those individuals who do not definitively fall at one end or the other.

As enlightened beings we should embrace those individuals who seek to educate us about this subject and find it in our hearts to try and understand the emotional and physical trauma experienced by those who are not clearly as "normal" as ourselves.

Evolution can go either way. "Forward" or "backward".

Evolution can occur by several means such as chromosome mutation, natural selection, and Mendelian inheritance.
There are also theories of group selection, epigenetic variation, and niche construction, among others.

 

You are defining gender as a biological thing, it also has a social connotation that you seem to be choosing to ignore.
You are entitled to your opinion.

I am not falling into the trap of either defending or criticizing John Money, or anyone else. I could care less.

I entered this part of the discussion because the claim was made by 6 eyed that there are only two genders

So I will review the facts.

The word gender can be used in different ways.
One way is to describe biological attributes, the other refers to social and cultural differences. (It can also refer to grammar but we'll ignore that aspect.)
So let's look at the two different uses.

Biological
Chromosomal:
1. The vast majority of humans are born with either a set of XY chromosomes or XX chromosomes.
2. There are rare occurrences of individuals being born with a wide range of other sexual chromosome combinations.

In these examples we can see there are two clearly defined chromosomal genders and a host of indeterminate or "fuzzy" others.

Physical characteristics:
3. The vast majority of humans are born with either definitive male reproductive organs or female reproductive organs.
4. There are rare occurrences of individuals being born with both male reproductive organs and female reproductive organs.
5. There are rare occurrences of individuals being born with visually or physically indeterminate or confusing reproductive organs.
6. There are occurrences of individuals being born with male reproductive organs or female reproductive organs (or theoretically any of the above combinations) who, for one reason or another, can not reproduce.

In these examples we can see there are two clearly defined physical genders and a host of indeterminate or "fuzzy" others.

Additional physical characteristics:
7. There are occurrences of individuals being born with male reproductive organs or female reproductive organs who, for some reason such as hormonal imbalances, do not physically develop in accordance with their particular sex.
8. There are occurrences of individuals being born with male reproductive organs or female reproductive organs who, for some reason such as hormonal imbalances, do not physically develop in accordance with their particular sex and who seek medical help to "correct' those imbalances.

In these examples we can see there are those who have a difficult time with "normal' gender development due to physical limitations.

Social or Cultural
9. We know there are individuals who do not mentally identify, for what ever reason, with their physical or chromosomal gender identity.
10. We know there are individuals who do not socially identify, for what ever reason, with their physical or chromosomal gender identity, such as "tomboys" or effeminate males.
11. We know there are individuals who do not mentally or socially identify, for what ever reason, with their physical or chromosomal gender identity and who seek medical help to "correct' that state by seeking a sex change.

In these examples we can see there are those who have a difficult time accepting "normal' gender social or cultural roles, for whatever reason.

I don't think I left anything out...but I may have.
I offer these examples to support my contention that the statement that there are only two genders can legitimately be called into question.

I think they see an opening to attack science based on this one video. I don't like the video either, but I don't see it as a reason to attack the entire enlightenment or science itself or Bill Nye in toto .

It seems to me that there are some who feel that science is threatening their world view. While they are happy to drive their cars to the mall, take their daily medicine, or engage in discussions over the internet, all made possible by science and technology; when it comes to any portion of science that contradicts or questions their particular value system, they get upset.

So they seek any opportunity to destroy those who express an opinion and use any type of scientific fact to back it up.
