I just have to respond to this...I agree with you to some degree. BUT there are people out there literally setting big traps for dogs that run and are apparently wandering and scrounging for food...the people that get those dogs and then take care of their medical expenses and find them homes (or keep them on occasion, but NOT as often as you might think) are rescuing those dogs. The ones that are literally saved from the middle of the road and advertise they found that animal (usually a dog) rescued that animal!

I haven't rescued that crazy little calico kitten that is in my life - she rescued herself by finding me. smh

I DID rescue BB when it took me 19 days to get her out of the building across the road and I fed her under that door every night and most mornings...then had to get the help of a marine to make the devil open up that stupid door and let my marine rescue her.

Lots of people say rescue; but the animal isn't truly rescued. However, there are LOTS of animals down here in the south - and probably across the US - that ARE rescues.

Just like y'alls health care is completely different up there, I think the animal care (by the government) probably is too.

this song live was off the charts....does anyone still tour with quadrophonic sound?...they had massive columns set up on 4 sides of the stadium....it was bone chilling....one of those songs that gave me goose bumps.....

 

Depends on the valuation you put on an animals life, doesn't it?

Buddy was found chained up in an empty warehouse, starving, torn up from apparently losing a fight and left to die.
when found he was sent to a place that police/animal control use to determine if the animal can be saved/rehabilitated. The woman who ran the place determined he was used for illegal dog fighting, but his temperament was fine with people, so he was spared and patched up.
He was definitely "rescued" otherwise he would have died in that warehouse.

Just going to the pound and getting an animal that was discarded by someone else IMO isn't "rescuing" that animal.
But taking an animal from a life of abuse/neglect where their fate is sure to be a short, miserable life is rescuing them.
No other way it could be considered, IMO.

today is a rare occurance where I indulged and have become

indulged? in coffee?

been using a small 4 cup coffee maker for ages, but one of my girls has developed a taste for it as well and that little guy just wasn't cutting it plus it isn't automatic.

so a couple weeks ago I had an hour or so to kill waiting for her to get off work (she lets me use her car) and decided to wander into the Goodwill store.
Looking around at all the cast off mostly junk, my eye caught something in the corner, it stood out to me as if it was glowing with an aura and sent from the gods.
It was a black & decker 16 cup automatic coffee maker in perfect condition and actually clean. tag on it said $4.50,, say no more, Sold to the American!.

Then I knew we were out of coffee so I wander into the Big Lots next door and look around, but all they had was the usual offerings at the usual prices, BUT then I spied a bag of coffee stuck among all the folgers and maxwell house crap, $5.00, grabbed it, moved some more crap around and found another different brand of espresso grind coffee, $5.00, sold.
so got two pounds of coffee for $10, pretty good deal.
When I got home I mixed the two together for the hell of it and brewed a pot in my new coffee maker....
HOLY FUCK!!!!
that mix turned out to be one of those coffees that I call cocaine in a cup!!!!
Nice euphoric/speedy buzz and tastes great.
and the coffee maker works perfect, nice to get up and have it already brewed and waiting for me.

i do occasionally get the 99 cent small ice coffee though...tastes good and its mostly ice cubes and the price is right


since i stopped buying coffee my little money safe is almost too heavy to lift...last time i checked there was close to $1000 of coins rolled in there

 

I'm enjoying some coffee right now. I've kind of been pounding it this morning though, which I tend to do on weekend mornings. Cream or milk only, thanks . Around here, people always seem to order an "extra extra" coffee, meaning extra cream, extra sugar. I watch the person behind the counter literally dump 3-4 spoonfuls of sugar into people's cups. That's dessert, for Christ sakes.
